The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Vehicle Operations facility in York is our final assembly plant. Employees at York also perform a variety of manufacturing operations, including fabrication, welding, polishing and painting and produce a wide range of current and replacement parts for all models. Join our team as a Sr. Advanced Manufacturing Engineer - Fabrication.

Job Summary

The Senior Engineer Advanced Manufacturing- Fabrication will work collaboratively with Product Development and Manufacturing to yield innovative products and processes. This person plays a key role in the manufacturing process development and implementation of formed steel and welding and is responsible for supporting and delivering new products to production at our manufacturing plants. The role is focused on implementing new fabricated fuel tanks, motorcycle fenders, and welded frames, with opportunities to influence design for manufacturability while using manufacturing best practices, standardized processes and templates, risk assessment and mitigation, APQP / PPAP, and after-action reviews.

Job Responsibilities

Has a leadership role working with other stakeholders to solve problems involving medium to large scale projects from concept, through capital funding planning and approval, and ultimately through successful implementation using analytical thought, exercising judgment and identifying innovative solutions. This role Impacts the achievement of part design related to design for assembly/manufacturing, error proofing, fixture design, and incorporating quality monitoring and improvement measures to drive results. Manages project budget, supplier invoicing and financial planning for new tooling and parts. Demonstrated ability to effectively work with suppliers and stakeholders and recommend development of best practices to improve assembly/manufacturing methods and procedures. Supports lean manufacturing principles such as 5s, Six Sigma, and CI systems Works independently and as part of a team on complex projects.

Education Specifications

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or similar technology related field is required.

Experience Requirements

Requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience in manufacturing, assembly, or fabrication methods. Demonstrated ability to lead people and / or team and provide guidance to other employees. Has managed project budgets and timelines Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and exert influence to generate positive business results. Ability to influence without direct authority Strong interpersonal skills working with both internal and external customers Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) and coordinate with all employee levels and work within a collaborative, fast paced and interactive team environment Analytical and problem solving skills and ability to translate information into actions Strong organizational and time management skills Must be capable of working flexible hours Able to lead Tooling and Part Fixture development Ability to Travel

Beneficial Experience

Knowledge and understanding of GD&T Gage R&R methods APQP / PPAP training and experience
