Geo-Technology Associates, Inc. Soil & Concrete Laboratory Manager in York, Pennsylvania
Geo-Technology Associates, Inc. (GTA) is currently seeking an experienced LABORATORY MANAGER for our Construction Observation & Testing Division in York, Pennsylvania. Laboratory Managers are responsible for training and oversight of people working in the soil and concrete lab, performance of soil and concrete laboratory testing, maintenance of laboratory equipment, quality assurance and productivity of the lab.
Laboratory Manager Responsibilities
Train and supervise entry‐level technicians for laboratory moisture‐density relationships and soil classification as they relate to field applications
Conduct moisture-density tests, sieve analysis (with or without hydrometers), limits testing, direct shear, unconfined compression, California Bearing Ratio (CBR), permeability, and consolidation tests in the laboratory
Perform compressive strength testing on concrete cylinders from field
Calibrate and verify field-testing equipment; maintain third-party calibration reports for laboratory equipment
Ensure all paperwork complies with the laboratory quality assurance manual.
Compute, graph, and process laboratory data
Keep Quality Assurance manual updated to meet AMRL, CCRL, and WACEL standards
Maintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory
Enter lab units and billing information weekly
Laboratory Manager Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent
Experience in materials testing preferred, but not necessary
Valid driver's license in good standing
WACEL, NICET, ACI certifications for field and lab strongly desired
Computer literacy in Microsoft Office, Outlook and Adobe
Ability to communicate effectively with management and peers both verbally and in writing
