Easterseals Western and Central Pennsylvania is a organization serving people with disabilities. We are looking to hire a dynamic part-time Direct Support Professional to join our team. The position works out of our office located in York, PA. Workdays are Tuesday-Thursday with 3 flexible daylight shifts of 4.5 hours each day totaling 13.5 hours per week.
JOB SUMMARY-Direct Support Professional
The Direct Support Professional provides direct support services and companion services to adults with Autism/Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) for our Community Participation Support program.
QUALIFICATIONS-Direct Support Professional
- High School diploma/GED
- First Aid/CPR preferred
- Current valid Pennsylvania driver's license and acceptable driving record obtained through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation required. Additional insurance is needed to transport individuals in your vehicle.
- Acceptable Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Clearance required.
- Department of Aging FBI Clearance required if not a continuous resident of PA for three years prior to employment with Easterseals.
- Passing of physical examination and TB required.
JOB DUTIES-Direct Support Professional include:
- Assists individuals in learning and developing new skills that will enhance opportunities for independence and inclusion.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of the participant and maintain safe environment at all times.
- Assist individuals in all aspects of personal care which includes, but is not limited to: toileting, feeding, bathing, ambulating, range of motion, etc.
- Provide a friendly and stimulating environment for program consumers through tasks such as, but not limited to: greeting participants, assisting in putting on/taking off outerwear, serving food/beverages, engaging in conversation, and facilitating the establishment of relationships with community partners.
- Transport consumers in van or personal vehicle as required.
HOURS-Direct Support Professional
- The hours will depend on the needs of the individual.
- The hourly rate is $17.00.
