General Summary

Provides advanced process and clinical and outcomes data and consulting services and support for clinical improvement analytics for the Health System including, but not limited to Quality Advisor, Quantros, Atlas, GWTG and similar systems. Acquires, manages, interprets and transforms data into accurate, consistent and timely information. Downloads and formats data into user friendly format from various databases for reports distributed throughout the organization, including each Entity Board. Creates appropriate graphs and charts as needed to most accurately display the data and healthcare information. Balances the strategic vision of the Health System with day-to-day details. Exhibits broad organizational knowledge and the ability to communicate with individuals and groups, both internal and external, including the support for clinical improvement projects. Validates all reportable data results through qualitative and quantitative analyses to confirm findings accuracy.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Initiates, implements and assists with data analysis and interpretation of clinical process and outcomes data, including the development of professional-level graphs and charts that are presented to various workgroups and committees, including the Entity Level Boards.

  • Analyzes data and report results using pivot tables, charts and graphs.

  • Provides system wide support for various Clinical Improvement analytic applications (e.g., Quality Advisor, Quantros, Atlas, GWTG and similar systems).

  • Works with customers to define informatics and reporting requirements, including System leadership.

  • Consults and advises all stakeholders concerning the accuracy of data and efficiency of processes.

  • Collaborates with IS to develop and support clinical databases and related applications. Maintains all data integrity and security.

  • Formulates validation quality analysis strategies and methods to ensure accurate and reliable data, ensuring appropriate departmental/service line/project and corporate standards are met.

  • Integrates data from internal and external sources in order to provide data for analysis and/or reporting.

  • Provides expert system-wide support for Clinical Effectiveness Teams by producing timely reports of summarized high quality clinical information. Maintains communication with project teams, clients, vendors and management as it relates to the data analytic role for Clinical Improvement.

  • Monitors daily activity and problem solves for the Clinical Improvement Department including assignment of work to data abstractors who work on core measures, re-assigning and/or proactively assigning work as needed by the department.

  • Interfaces with vendors in developing solutions to data questions and problems including development of new methodology and design of metrics and criteria to meet the end users' needs through the collection and interpretation of data.

  • Generates routine and ad-hoc reports using internal and external data sources to complete data requests.

  • Presents information in a concise user-friendly format by determining target audience needs to support decision processes.

  • Provides recommendations based on analytical results to improve business processes or outcomes with the provision of on-going education and support for the Clinical Improvement department and for Quantros users.

  • Responsible for ensuring that State and National measure data is submitted to the appropriate agency (i.e. PHC4, QNet/CMS, Quantros) by required deadline.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelors Degree Required

Work Experience:

  • 3 years Experience in healthcare informatics, health information management, or data analytics. Required

  • Experience in data analysis with Managed Care/Healthcare Industry or interactive analysis for multi-dimensional views of data. Preferred

Licenses:

  • Registered Health Information Administrator Upon Hire Preferred and

  • Certified Health Data Analyst Upon Hire Preferred and

  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality Upon Hire Preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent teamwork/communication skills.

  • Knowledge of appropriate tools & methodologies.

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
