The Westchester Center for Independent and Assisted Living Home Health Aide House Supervisor in Yonkers, New York

General Responsibilities:

The shift supervisor is responsible for the general oversight of resident activities and well being throughout their shift. As pertinent, the supervisor is required to oversee aides activities during meal times, medication passes and throughout the night. The supervisor must address all resident issues including medical referrals and admissions, and communicate via documentation any concerns that need to be addressed to Case Management, The ALP Nurse and Administrator.

General Tasks: Supervise residents during meal times assuring aide assistance as needed. Assist new admissions during meal times and to acclimate during evening hours. Conduct facility rounds. Monitor assignments for aides for proper work flow. Intervene in resident conflicts, outburst, and behavior issues. Intervene in medical/mental health emergencies as needed. Investigate all resident incidents/falls and give summary to case manager. Attend to all late admissions/ re-admissions (paperwork, medication changes, etc.) Handle all personnel issues (employee behavior, dereliction of duty, complaints) and report to Case Management and Administrator. Communicate all pertinent shift activity to Case Management and Administrator. Assure that all important issues are reported in 24 hour communication book. Night supervisor conducts full house census check at 12:00am. Manages all emergencies and records all details for director review.

Position Requirements

  1. Must be at least 18 years of age, High School degree required.
  2. At least 3 years of work experience in the provision of services to a dependent adult population.
  3. Must be able to communicate effectively utilizing oral, written and technical modes of communication.
  4. Must be flexible with time schedules and be able to assume overtime duties as warranted by emergency situations.
  5. Must be a professional representative of the organization to the community, regulatory bodies, and any other outside entities.
  6. Must be able to lead by example as demonstrated by consistent timeliness, task delegation, constant follow up, offering direction, and always available to clients and employees alike in a supporting role.
  7. Must be able to asses the necessary steps to take to resolve dilemmas which may be outside the scope of regulatory, company or industry standards.
  8. Must be very organized and able to complete standard office tasks with minimal assistance.
  9. Must demonstrate sound judgement when making decisions, considering clients rights, internal and external politics and existing hierarchies.
