Job Description Summary
The Intermediate Defined Benefit Client Services Manager will serve as the DB administration subject matter expert and day–to-day client relationship manager. They will manage internal and external client escalations and inquiries and serve as a secondary contact for participant level inquiries.

Responsibilities
Develop strong, credible relationships with your book of 10-15 clients, and conduct regular calls or meetings to maintain an active presence as their “go –to” partner.
Demonstrate an understanding of all Transamerica products, processes, and technology related to Pension administration.
Utilize training and knowledge of pension plans, combined with a passion for delivering excellent customer service and a understanding of a clients plan structures and pain points, to successfully design and deliver creative, compliant solutions to address their challenges and concerns.
Work with internal resources and partners to deliver timely and un-paralleled service and support to our clients.
Identify areas of opportunity, and participate in the design of process and/or technology improvements.
Successfully navigate through a variety of technology systems, knowing which to use in a given situation.
Serve as the defined benefit administration subject matter expert and day–to-day client relationship manager. Manage internal and external client escalations and inquiries and serve as a secondary contact for participant level inquiries.
Answer client inquiries regarding plan administration, including benefit calculations, payments, data, audits, valuation data extracts, and pension assets.
Ensure overall client satisfaction; understand the Transamerica Retirement Services (TRS) model and secure TRS interests.
Protect TRS, plan sponsor and participants from compliance concerns.
Act as a liaison between the client and internal teams for inquiries related to data processing, pension calculations, etc.
Work closely with your CFT to help ensure client expectations are met
Manage participant statement mailings
Consult on ongoing data cleanliness and plan maintenance; understand and communicate data issues that prevent or could prevent automation of benefit calculations.
Proactively manage non-routine projects and build realistic expectations for delivery times. Handle projects such as auditor requests, non-standard calculation requests and special participant statements. Establish and maintain project plans and hold internal partners accountable for promised deliverable's.
Report discrepancies, escalations and potential process failures to management.
Assist with streamlining internal processes as applicable.
Draft appeals correspondence, custom letters, and participant communications
Monitor and submit pension trust transactions for transfers, withdrawals, deposits, contributions etc.
Coordinate with TRS ERISA legal counsel for plan restatements, plan changes, and Voluntary Correction Programs.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a business field or equivalent work experience
Six years of experience in the defined benefit or retirement field
Two years of client management experience
In-depth knowledge of defined benefit pension and actuarial concepts
Knowledge of retirement industry regulations and the ability to appropriately interpret rules
Excellent written and oral communication and relationship building skills
Please note that the compensation information that follows is a good faith estimate for this position only and is provided pursuant to applicable pay transparency and compensation posting laws. It is estimated based on what a successful candidate might be paid in certain Company locations.
The Salary for this position generally ranges between $88,000 - $110,000 annually. This range is an estimate, based on potential qualifications and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.
Additionally, this position is typically eligible for an Annual Bonus based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at Company discretion.
