We currently have an exciting opportunity for an R&D Senior Software Engineer to join the Abbott Diabetes Care R&D Engineering group based at our state-of-the-art site in Witney.

The Opportunity:

The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for software design, development, and implementation of software systems for use in the manufacture of ADC products. You will be working in an R&D environment on the latest innovative processes and technologies. You will need to collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, other software developers, and project managers to ensure the successful execution of projects.

The primary focus of your work will involve:

  • Software design, programming, installation, commissioning, debugging, and testing of software solutions used for process machinery, desktop applications or test prototypes.

  • Taking fundamental design concepts from initiation through to R&D or production equipment.

  • Working in conjunction with cross functional teams within R&D and Operations to provide state of the art equipment solutions.

  • Mentoring junior software developers.

About You:

To be successful, you will be qualified to HNC as a minimum in an Electronic or Software related engineering discipline or equivalent. You will have a track record of Windows application development in C# using the Microsoft Visual Studio Environment. Further languages and environments will improve your application. You will need to be able to demonstrate proven experience in a related role in which you have designed software solutions from the ground up with a creative and innovative approach to problem solving. The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously is key – it’s an exciting time of growth here at Abbott and you’ll be exposed to a variety of work packages.

What we offer:

In addition to a competitive salary, Abbott offers a highly attractive benefits package which includes a defined-contribution pension scheme, a share ownership scheme, private healthcare, life assurance, and a flexible benefits scheme which you can tailor to your own requirements. Of course, things are a little different right now, but in general, we like to help our employees live life to the fullest, and therefore we offer a range of optional initiatives for you to get involved in, including onsite allotments, couch to 5k campaigns, bee keeping, yoga and more!
