Eaton Corporation Sr. Product Engineer in Wilsonville, Oregon

Eaton’s ES AMER ARS PDCAD division is currently seeking a Sr. Product Engineer. This role is located out of Wilsonville, OR. Relocation assistance will be provided.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $80,250 - $117,700 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

The Senior Product Engineer is responsible for accurately interpreting purchaser specifications and translating them into complex drawings and bills-of-materials in support of the goals established by the Portland Power Center Power Center’s manufacture of high-quality products including power distribution, control equipment and aftermarket products. The Senior Product Engineer is expected to be self-motivated, have excellent time management skills, with strong organization skills able to prioritize multiple tasks.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop various complex drawings and bills of material based on established product designs, providing sufficient detail to convey the purchaser’s equipment application accurately.

  • Collaborate efficiently with customers, distributors, and sales teams in interpreting and defining new equipment applications while providing exceptional customer service.

  • Advise production and purchasing personnel – when required – in interpreting information for the accurate production of equipment in accordance with the purchaser’s requirements.

  • Support a specific product line which could include either Low Voltage Assemblies, Medium Voltage Controls, Medium Voltage Assemblies or Medium Voltage Switchgear.

  • Maintain engineering schedule to ensure drawings, bills of material and other key milestones are complete timely to support the Production build schedule.

  • Maintain good working relationships with Power Center production teams, engineering teams, and purchasing teams.

  • Provide proactive, leadership-oriented approach to identifying and implementing continuous improvements projects or processes.

  • Stay abreast of Eaton technical product developments through training or other means.

  • Provide training and leadership to entry level engineers as needed.

  • Support warranty and quality technicians and investigate warranty requests to determine root cause and solution to resolve customer issues.

  • Actively drive and participate in a culture of “Safety First.”

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in engineering or designing and applying distribution and control equipment.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.

  • Three years’ experience in product engineering, design engineering and/or application engineering of distribution or control equipment.

  • Experience with manufacturing and production processes.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Sound critical thinking skills and the ability to analyze product failure issues sufficiently to drive to root cause.

  • Ability to prioritize jobs and make critical decisions in a fast-paced environment.

  • Possess a sound working knowledge of software programs such as CAD and Microsoft Office products.

  • Working knowledge of electrical principals.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Ability to interact in a small team environment.

  • A working knowledge of applicable low voltage switchgear products and regulatory standards (UL, CSA, and IEC).

  • Proficient in developing mechanical and electrical drawings.
