Insight Global Transmission and Distribution Principal Engineer in Portland, Oregon
Job Description
A large utility client on the West Coast is seeking a Transmission and Distribution Principal Engineer to join the standards team. This team is responsible for developing and maintaining engineering standards for transmission and distribution assets. This role ensures compliance with regulations and best practices by overseeing engineering guidelines, material specifications, and construction standards while integrating advanced technologies to enhance grid reliability. This team collaborates with design engineering, supports field operations, manages supplier development, and drives continuous improvement initiatives. Additionally, they are responsible for selecting, coaching, and developing employees, managing budgets, and ensuring alignment with corporate objectives to advance the companys transmission and distribution standards and electric system efficiency.

Skills and Requirements
10+ years of experience in transmission and distribution system design and engineering.
- BS in Electrical Engineering or related degree with applicable experience.
- Experience working for a utility or contracting with a utility.
- Experience with NESC, IEEE, and utility standards. - Experience working with crews on substation projects.
- Experience with management, mentorship, or coaching. null
