UPMC Physical Therapist Assistant - Casual/PRN - Rehab Orthopedic - Williamsport in Williamsport, Pennsylvania

UPMC Williamsport is seeking a Casual/PRN Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to support therapy services at Williamsport Hospital. This role will work daylight hours, with opportunities for both weekday and weekend hours. One weekend per month is required.

The Physical Therapist Assistant provides physical therapy treatment following the plan of care established by the physical therapist. Recommends changes in treatment plan to the supervising physical therapist based upon the patient's condition and response to treatment.

Responsibilities:

  • Attends and actively participates in staff meetings, staff development, departmental committees, and in-service education programs.

  • Consistently utilizes and provides appropriate supervision to clinical support staff following the Physical Therapy Practice Act of the practicing state.

  • Completes necessary charge/statistical information to accurately reflect services documented and rendered to patients

  • Competently provides appropriate, comprehensive, and skillful therapeutic interventions based on treatment programs that have been developed by a physical therapist for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients within the scope of practice permitted by the Physical Therapy Practice Act of practicing state.

  • Competently assists physical therapists in the survey of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients within the scope of practice permitted by the Physical Therapy Practice Act of the practicing state.

  • Maintains written/electronic documentation that meets or exceeds the standard established for the facility by the organization for all clinical services rendered including documentation of changes in a patient's status, cancellations, and the treatment intervention administered. Ensures documentation is cosigned following the facility-specific guidelines and the Physical Therapy Practice Act of the practicing state.

  • Rotates through selected treatment areas and/or facilities when necessary to facilitate organizational needs.

  • Demonstrates clinical ability to implement the treatment program within the plan of care outlined by the physical therapist in accordance with patient response to treatment and/or change in patient medical status to maximize outcomes. Recognizes information that requires an alteration in the plan of care and notifies the physical therapist in an appropriate and timely manner.

  • Demonstrates clinical ability to implement the treatment program within the plan of care outlined by the physical therapist in a fashion that reflects current scientific and clinical knowledge to effectively achieve established outcomes/goals.

Graduate of a Physical Therapist Assistant program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association with an associate's degree as a physical therapist assistant.

May in the course of their job duties be in rooms where medications are stored. No contact with medications is allowed.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

CPR is required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Physical Therapist Assistant OR Physical Therapist Assistant Indirect Supervision

  • Act 33 with renewal

  • Act 34 with renewal

  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
