An excellent opportunity exists to join the Derivatives Middle Office team (DMO) within MetLife Insurance Investments (MII). The Associate will play an integral part within the Derivatives Trade Processing team associated with our Bilateral OTC and Exchanged Traded derivatives. They will work within a team environment to support a new and growing reinsurance business focusing on trade processing and derivatives reporting and help build out and enhance our reinsurance trade processing workflow for existing and new deals. The position will engage directly with trading, valuations, risk management, IT, operations, and finance. Responsibilities, given below, are well integrated within a strong team culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a lead in projects that require subject matter expertise related to trade operations and reporting in the derivatives ecosystem

  • Participate and lead calls and in person meetings related to existing and new reinsurance deals

  • Contribute to analysis, development, testing, and integration of new applications and enhancements

  • Ability to liaise with Trading, Middle Office, Legal, Technology, Portfolio Management, Audit, and Back Office

  • Look for new ways to automate and increase efficiency within the current workflow

  • Maintain in-house system for allocation and linking of derivatives to respective assets, liabilities, or Variable Annuity hedging programs. Monitoring the legal hedge effectiveness requirements across the portfolios for compliance

  • Work with the portfolio management unit and back office to complete internal asset transfers by identifying, unlinking, and replacing assets being moved in the transfer

  • Liaise with external teams such as vendors and derivative counterparties

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • 6+ years of investments operations experience supporting Credit, Equity, Foreign Exchange, Interest rate derivatives within a financial services firm

  • 3+ years of trade processing, settlement, or reinsurance/modco experience

  • Trade processing experience in CDS, RCDS, FXS, IRS, FX forwards, futures and options

  • Good understanding of how reinsurance and modified coinsurance deals work as it relates to derivatives and collateral

  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and collaborative skills

  • Advanced technical Skills - (VBA Excel macros, SQL, Data management and charting functions in excel)

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to understand technology solutions and work independently

Preferred:

  • BA/BS Degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business Management, or other related field of expertise

  • Knowledge of Murex, Aladdin, DTCC, TriResolve and Bloomberg a plus
