The West Liberty Community School District is seeking a full time High School Social Studies teacher for the 2025/2026 School Year

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid 9-12 Iowa teaching license required

  • Preferred certification in Iowa as 9-12 All Social Studies

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.

  • Must possess a collaborative nature

  • Must be an innovative, passionate, and energetic individual

  • Successful prior teaching experience at the high school level preferred but not required

  • Successful experience working with diverse learners including Special Education and ESL

  • Proficiency in utilizing technology to enhance instruction.

  • Ability to create and implement differentiated instruction strategies.

  • Commitment to fostering critical thinking and civic engagement among students.

  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire students.

  • Experience with project-based learning and inquiry-based instruction is a plus.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and administrators.

  • Knowledge of current events and social issues.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Plans a program of study that meets the needs, interests, and abilities of students

  • Creates a climate that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students

  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required

  • Plans and delivers engaging lessons, assesses student learning, and maintains a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

  • Prepares and implements lesson plans that align with state standards and district curriculum.

  • Provides individualized instruction and support to diverse learners.

  • Maintains accurate records of student progress and communicates effectively with parents/guardians.

  • Contributes to the overall success of the social studies department and school community.
