Purpose:
We are seeking an experienced Actuary to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing and reviewing quarterly Cash Flow Testing (CFT) results, Stat and Tax Reserves, and conducting quarter-end earnings analysis and forecasts. This role involves close collaboration with the asset modeling and risk departments to review asset assumptions and modeling approaches, as well as investigating and reviewing modeling results.
Key responsibilities include communicating results to the Appointed Actuary and Senior Management, building necessary controls and documentation, and improving and modernizing parts of the CFT and/or Stat Valuation processes.
This role can be filled in West Des Moines or Toronto and will involve collaboration with many stakeholders across Actuarial, Finance and Risk throughout various Athene locations. Reporting to the VP or AVP of Stat Valuation in West Des Moines
Accountabilities:
Produce and review quarterly Cash Flow Testing (CFT) Results
Produce and review quarterly Stat and Tax Reserves
Quarter-end earnings analysis and forecasts
Work closely with asset modeling and risk department to review asset assumptions and modeling approaches
Review and investigate modeling results, working closely with the modeling teams
Communicate results to Appointed Actuary and Senior Management
Build out of necessary controls and documentation
Improve and modernize parts of CFT and/or Stat Valuation processes
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, actuarial science or related field and completion or near completion of ASA, plus at least 5 years of experience
Demonstrated experience within Actuarial modeling software such as ALFA preferred but not required
Demonstrated desire to take initiative and run with projects
Proven mentor that can direct less experienced actuarial staff with potential direct reports in the future
Experience with any of the following would be beneficial:
Annuities
Pension Risk Transfers
Stat Reserving
Principal Based Reserving
Asset-Liability management
Cash Flow Testing
Proficient in MS Office suite and any actuarial valuation software
Ability to view “big picture”, understand broad corporate impacts, and focus on company objectives
Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize and manage several projects is a must
Excellent oral and written English language skills
Strong interpersonal skills preferred.
