Overview of the role:

Hartford Funds is seeking a flexible, motivated, and proactive Project Manager who thrives in a fast moving, dynamic environment that often requires wearing multiple ‘hats.

In this role, you will represent the technology team while being a dedicated resource to the finance department to execute key finance technology initiatives. You will partner closely with the business, acting as a conduit to ensure that the day-to-day IT needs of finance are being handled in a timely fashion with clear communication at all times.

Our ideal candidate will be collaborative, hands-on, and excited to manage a variety of technology projects. You will be expected to develop a deep understanding of the business area, the terminology, concepts, and processes and even be able to provide some business analyst capacity at times.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist business partners by identifying and articulating success criteria, ensuring projects deliver intended results and align with strategic objectives

  • Partner cross-functionally with Finance leaders and IT teams to provide strategic and tactical thought partnership to effectively drive project delivery and identify solutions

  • The leader will be viewed as someone to come to for resolution of challenges, both processes and systems, in support of the CFO organization

  • Communicate and present to team members up to and including executive levels across multiple stakeholder groups to influence endorsement and decision making

  • Work with business owners to define the objective and scope of a project, create a project plan, managing project risks, and oversee the execution by taking full ownership of projects, end to end

  • Must be willing to do some business analysis work (i.e., gather & document requirements for various types of projects), on an as needed basis

  • Work closely with the Architects, BAs and other IT resources to gain a deep understanding of the business need and translate their needs into technical requirements that can be efficiently consumed by the development team(s)

  • Confidently and effectively coordinate and/or facilitate meetings with technical & business resources, as well as external teams and vendors

  • Provide succinct & timely status updates, appropriate to the audience in content & level of detail

  • Ability to maintain a pulse on the business and be aware of needs or concerns and proactively manage the relationship

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a technical project management role

  • Experience with managing large scale technology projects

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Must possess excellent communications skills, and the ability to communicate with the tech team, vendors, leadership, and project sponsors at appropriate levels of detail

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think both from a business and technology standpoint

  • Must be equally comfortable interacting with both technical and business resources

  • Must be self-motivated and thrive in a collaborative team environment, but also has the drive & discipline to work independently

  • Solid time management and organizational skills critical to successfully execute on multiple, parallel initiatives

  • Very proficient at Word and Excel and proven ability to learn new software tools

  • Experience working with system vendors is required

  • Experience on a data warehouse projects is strongly preferred

  • Prior experience as a business analyst, documenting business & technical requirements is a plus

  • Expertise and fluency in SQL language is a plus

  • A general knowledge of finance and accounting is required

  • Prior experience in Finance is a plus

  • Domain knowledge of Asset Management / Mutual Funds is a plus

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$125,000 - $160,000
