Gun Lake Casino IT Security Administrator in Wayland, Michigan

Position Summary:

Reporting to the IT Manager, the IT Security Administrator is responsible for performing activities related to the administration, implementation, improvement, monitoring of information systems security systems, standards, and best practices. Incumbents will carry out routine to complex assignments in one or more IT security related areas including server, workstation, application, network, event/incident response, and identity and access management. They will work to ensure systems and staff comply with IT policies and procedures across Gun Lake Casino and will be involved with recommending and implementing changes to the environment to further protect Gun Lake Casino information and assets.

The Security Administrator must possess strong technical knowledge of information systems, security practices and technologies, the use of established IT security applications, controls and methods, and a working knowledge of Casino industry issues and concerns related to IT security.

In this Role:

  • Responsible for always practicing, supporting, and promoting Gun Lake Casino’s “Unsurpassed Service Standards.”

  • Perform ongoing security procedures, including review of patch compliance, configuration management, firewall activity and other system logs, vulnerability (anti-virus, software/firmware patch) management periodic system intrusion testing and investigation of exception conditions working alongside of the Information Security department.

  • Monitor and report on compliance with security policies as well as the enforcement of policies.

  • Implement controls and configurations aligned with security policies, regulatory and audit requirements.

  • Manage the security of servers and workstations by implementing upgrades, patches, and updates to operating systems, software applications, and threat protection software; establishing group policies and user rights; and disabling unnecessary services where applicable.

  • Perform security testing and vulnerability analysis of new and existing systems, working to ensure vulnerabilities are mitigated.

  • Lead and perform routine, periodic inspections of new and existing systems to ensure security measures are functioning and effectively utilized and recommend remedial measures where appropriate to minimize or mitigate future system compromises.

  • Participate in the review, evaluation, and recommendation of security enhancements, tools, and technologies such as anti-malware, anti-phishing, encryption, firewalls, internet filtering and monitoring, intrusion detection, etc.

  • Participate in root cause analysis of critical events for improving preventative and reactive processes.

  • Responsible for monitoring security and making recommendation of security posture at Gun Lake Casino.

  • Maintain excellent grooming and uniform standards.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science; or equivalent years of experience required.

  • Minimum four (4) years information security experience required.

  • Strong working knowledge of computer fundamentals, computer operations, system administration standards including backup & recovery, security administration, performance analysis & tuning, capacity planning, hardware and O/S maintenance.

  • Certified CompTIA Security+ certification or other information security certifications preferred.

  • Candidate will be required to obtain CEH – Certified Ethical Hacker Course – Provided.

  • Familiar with Nessus security scanner.

  • Experience with common information security management frameworks, such as International Standards Organization (ISO) 2700x, the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL).

  • Experience working with Splunk, Websense, Network Management tools, Juniper network technologies, related segmentation strategies, and Microsoft patch management (Microsoft Windows Server 2008R2 - 2016, Windows 7, Windows 10).

  • Knowledge of anti-virus platform.

  • Experience with firewall platforms, review associated logs, and system intrusion testing techniques.

  • Experience with PCI compliance preferred.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills.

  • Must be detailed oriented.

  • Must meet performance standards including attendance and punctuality.

  • Work experience in the gaming or hospitality industry is preferred.

  • Must obtain a Gun Lake Tribal Gaming License.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires normal, corrective vision range, the ability to see color, and the ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols.

  • Must have the manual dexterity to operate job-related equipment.

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, run, and climb stairs for the duration of shift.

  • Must have the ability to access all properties and areas.

  • Ability to read, write and input data into the computer.

  • Ability to stoop, crouch and kneel.

Work Conditions:

Work is typically in an office environment or out on the casino floor. Work areas may be warm, cold, or noisy. Tasks may be required to perform from a sitting or non-sitting position in a confined area. Team Members may be required to stand, walk, lift, reach, push, pull, and grasp.
