GE Healthcare Director - Core Software Platform in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin

Job Description Summary

As the Director of Core Software Platform, you will play a critical role in shaping and maintaining the core software platform which is instrumental in the delivery of secure, serviceable, and reliable software solutions for GE HealthCare General Imaging and Primary Care (GIPC) ultrasound devices. In addition to managing a team of software engineers in this role you also will partner with program and software leaders across the global GIPC engineering team in order to support feature development, drive efficiency of the larger development team, and continuously improve the security posture of our products. You will be responsible for leading and building a world class team to deliver a core software platform to be used across the GIPC product portfolio and continuously align to our infrastructure, lifecycle, and platform roadmaps.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Create a quality-focused development culture in the team which they lead and the larger core software platform development community.

  • Responsible for overseeing the development of robust and reliable base operating system platform for GIPC products by working closely with Product Owners, Software Architects, and development teams.

  • Responsible for overseeing the development of key platform infrastructure components like Databases and logging frameworks.

  • Responsible for developing and institutionalizing robust DevOps processes for software development life cycle while delivering features, fixes, and updates frequently in close alignment with business objectives.

  • Instrumental in implementing test automation tools, managing CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring system reliability.

  • Responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of security protocols within software applications and systems by leading a team of security engineers in identifying vulnerabilities, conducting security assessments, and developing mitigation strategies.

  • Playing a key role in ensuring that software products are resilient against cyber threats and comply with relevant security standards and regulations.

  • Guide team to develop service and software delivery platforms that ensure that products can be effectively maintained in the field.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field

  • Having 10+ years of experience in leading and executing development of software platforms and deployment.

  • Proficient with Advanced Software Development Practices and experience with DevOps and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)

  • Good understanding of Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and project management principles.

  • Having solid grounding on global product development processes like PRD, QMS, SDLC and global regulatory processes.

  • Experience with landscape of cyber security, good understanding on standards and best practices for cyber security

  • Working knowledge and experience with complex software platform test infrastructure and test automation.

  • Adept at leading complex technical projects, able to align technical strategy with company’s goals.

  • Defining and refining engineering processes to ensure efficient and effective software development life cycles.

  • Ensuring the delivery of high-quality software through rigorous testing, code reviews, and adherence to best practices

  • Collaborating with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to align software projects with company objectives and customer needs.

  • Conducting performance reviews, setting objectives, and facilitating career development plans for team members.

  • Managing the recruitment, onboarding, and continuous training of engineering talent to build and maintain a skilled team.

  • Communicating progress, risks, and outcomes to senior management and other relevant stakeholders.

  • Resolving conflicts and removing obstacles that impede the engineering team's progress.

  • Staying abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive innovation within the team.

  • Facilitating a collaborative and inclusive team culture that values diversity and fosters a sense of belonging and respect.
