Saint-Gobain Human Resources Manager in WATERVLIET, New York

The HR Manager will support and partner with the site leadership team to effectively deliver HR programs, employee engagement and business results while managing all aspects of site level Human Resources. You will focus on the development, implementation and management of company initiatives and needs.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Employee Relations - Educating leaders on requirements, company policies and legal regulations. Fosters positive relationships to promote employee engagement and a positive workplace culture.

  • Manages and oversees performance management process (annual reviews, one-on-one coaching, progressive discipline, investigations).

  • Coaches plant leadership through employee relations issues while ensuring consistent compliance with union contracts, policies and application of federal, state, and local labor and employment laws.

Recruiting, Staffing & Workplace Plannin g - Partners with plant leadership to identify and forecast staffing needs. Oversees recruiting activities to including sourcing candidates, managing interview process, and hiring the best talent to compliment our team.

Compensation - Supporting hourly and salaried payroll processing, salaried exempt compensation programs, merit increase and annual incentive programs.

Training and Development - Lead the development of training procedures for the site and establish and maintain training documentation to drive effectiveness. Define and create training and site development needs. Facilitate all new employee orientations and oversee development of employees and site leadership team.

Compliance - Establish, evaluate and manage compliance with policies and provide consultation and insight to management team. Ensure compliance with proper employment regulations, policies, practices and applicable laws.

The Watervliet, NY site has 4 unions, and the incumbent is responsible for ensuring that the plant leadership team operates within the parameters of the contracts. Managing grievances, ensuring they are properly addressed, ultimately resolved, and participates as a key member of the negotiations team.

The HR Manager will provide critical contributions in the areas of World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and EHS. They will also work with the BU/Activity level Managers and HR to support the implementation of strategic HR and non-HR programs. On occasion this position may support other sites or partner with other HR professionals to deliver support within the Saint-Gobain business.

This position reports to the HR Business Leader and will play an integral role on the site leadership team in helping to achieve business goals and objectives.

What do you bring?

  • A Bachelors degree in HR Management, Business or a equivalent field is required.

  • 5+ years of HR experience within a manufacturing environment is required.

  • 3+ years of HR Manager experience is required.

  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred.

  • Requires a high level of problem-solving, strategic thinking, results-oriented, self-driven and high engagement to meet the HR of the team.

  • HRIS experience is required.

  • Experienced in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.

  • Attention to confidentiality is essential.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
