The School of Medicine (http://gumc.georgetown.edu/) (SOM) is heir to the long and rich Catholic and Jesuit tradition of caring for the sick. It lays the groundwork for the intellectual and ethical formation of physician healers committed to the clinically competent care of and the well being of their patients and dedicated to the health needs of the underserved in our society.

The Program Coordinator for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging (DEIB) supports the overall planning, execution, and growth of the Georgetown University School of Medicine’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging programs and initiatives – to include Office of DEIB core administrative functions, reporting, pipeline programs, and the Georgetown Experimental Medical Studies (GEMS) program. The incumbent plays a critical role in supporting the strategic and operational success of the Georgetown University School of Medicine’s DEIB programs and efforts and works closely with SOM students and offices, as well as stakeholders across GU and MedStar Health, to support the training, collaboration, and commitment to an equitable and inclusive environment that aligns with GUSOM’s goals of student success. Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging, duties include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate, support, and contribute to the design of Office of DEIB events, programming, trainings, and initiatives – to include support for all premedical pipeline programs.

  • Manage and support core Office of DEIB/GEMS program administrative functions – to include the ODEIB/GEMS website, DEIB-related committees, inboxes, communications, application processes, & student support.

  • Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of program review and quality improvement, and create data visualizations to deliver strategic insights and recommendations.

  • Provide administrative support to the GEMS program and GEMS program Director, to include support of student/application communications, curricular bookings/coordination, and student support.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or 0-2 years of r elevant professional experience required (or equivalent combination of education and work experience)

  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including the ability to empathetically and diplomatically navigate sensitive student issues

  • Ability to work independently, with minimal oversight

  • Ability to manage long-term planning processes and multiple shifting priorities under varying time constraints

  • Strong administrative judgment and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professional discretion

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of theories, best practices, and current trends in diversity, equity, inclusion, & belonging

  • Facilitation experience, especially around DEIB topics

  • Data analysis & reporting skills

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$44,022.00 - $73,406.80

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
