Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. We are currently seeking a Legal Personnel and Development Coordinator to support the Legal Personnel and Development department and reporting directly to the Legal Personnel and Development Manager.
The role will reside in the Washington, D.C. office with hybrid work capabilities and will be responsible for providing day-to-day administrative support and assistance to the legal personnel and development team. The Legal Personnel and Development Coordinator is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firm’s attorneys, advisors and staff, and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
Be a knowledgeable resource for the attorney development databases in viDesktop including Utilize, Performance Management and Real-time Feedback
Help manage the firm’s real time performance feedback system, Akin Thrive, to provide attorneys with ongoing feedback to further their professional development
Coordinate and support the annual non-partner attorney evaluation process
Provide support for the Akin Advisor and Akin Connections programs including but not limited to entering pairings, monitoring participation and preparing communications and other tasks related to attorney engagement, integration and retention efforts
In close collaboration with the Director of Legal Personnel & Development and the firm’s General Counsel’s office, monitor the bar admissions process and ensure compliance
Track non-partner lawyer time entry compliance, reviewing exemption requests and providing periodic reports to key firm leaders on the process
Assist with exit interview analysis for practice groups and senior leaders
Compile and analyze statistical information and create necessary reports to assist with various information requests and surveys
Assist with managing the department’s budget, including but not limited to reviewing and distributing monthly local office reports and productivity reports
Complete discrete tasks for the Chief Legal Talent Officer and Director of Legal Personnel & Development, as needed
Collaborate with department members to update and maintain the Attorney Development portal pages
Contribute to department projects and initiatives related to all aspects of Legal Personnel, as well as Attorney Recruiting and Development
Serve as the primary liaison with Firm IT in the ongoing technical support of the firm’s attorney development software and peripherals
Participate in scheduled periodic Legal Personnel, Attorney Development and Attorney Recruiting and Development department meetings
Additional tasks and projects as needed
Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum of three years of experience in a law firm or professional services setting
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
Familiarity with database applications
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to read, comprehend and follow instructions
Ability to communicate with attorneys and staff in an effective manner
Willingness and ability to assume new tasks and responsibilities
Strong service orientation and an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, office and firm management, and vendors
Commitment to professional growth and development
Ability to work well under pressure, handle multiple projects and shifting priorities, facilitate solutions, and meet deadlines and milestones for projects assigned in a professional manner

The anticipated base salary range for this position in Washington, DC is $75,000 to $90,000. The actual salary offered will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, years of relevant experience, certifications or other professional licenses held, job-related knowledge and skills, business needs, and the location from which the work will be performed. Additionally, salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package, which may also include a full range of health and other insurance benefits, financial and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility), a discretionary bonus, and various paid time off benefits.
