** This position is located in Washington, DC, at the Department of Justice (DOJ). (the person hired will work at a holding location until full security clearance is given to work in the DOJ building)

** This position requires that the employee complete criminal history information background check and obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

INTRODUCTIONUnder the supervision of the Custodial Foreman, performs those cleaning tasks necessary to meet custodial contract specifications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES1. Sweep and mop hallways, stairs, and offices2. Empty wastebaskets and dispose of the trash in a prescribed manner3. Dust horizontal surfaces4. Empty and wash ashtrays5. Clean bathrooms6. Wax and buff floors with prescribed buffers7. Clean glass and windows8. Wash walls and other vertical surfaces9. Sweep and clear snow from outside steps and sidewalks10. Polish kick panels, doorknobs, and other designated fixtures11. Strip and wax floors12. Vacuum rugs13. Mix cleaning solutions14. Maintain issued equipment15. Notify the supervisor when supplies and equipment are needed to perform tasks16. All other duties assigned by Custodial ForemanPHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONSThe incumbent must stand 80% of the work time, walk 15%, and sit 5%. They must lift/carry 50 pounds and push/pull 50 pounds to clean work areas and handle supplies and equipment. Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and handle. These requirements are necessary for using ladders and stairs to clean low areas, high areas, benches, and corners. Must be able to communicate with supervisors and co-workers; must be able to see, have depth perception, tell colors for safety reasons, and distinguish between chemicals.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have three to six months of training or experience or be capable of learning to perform the essential functions. Must be able to pass security clearance for designated contracts.
