Microsoft Corporation Senior Director of Government Affairs in Washington D.C., District Of Columbia
Microsoft’s Corporate, External and Legal Affairs Department (CELA) has an immediate opening in Washington, DC for a Senior Director of Government Affairs. In this role, you will help drive Microsoft’s policy agenda in Washington, DC, relating to key federal issues and support Microsoft’s partnerships with DC-based organizations. You will work with industry and thought leaders on topics ranging from AI to immigration, in close collaboration with our government affairs and other subject matter teams inside the company. You will collaborate closely within Microsoft across CELA and U.S. Government Affairs (USGA) including our United Nations and International Organizations (UNIO), AI for Good, Tech for Fundamental Rights, the HR Legal Group, and with Public Affairs and other business-side stakeholders.
You will serve as the primary liaison between Microsoft and the State Department; as well as the extensive DC Embassy community. You will engage with diplomats, policymakers, academics, and other civil society members to enhance Microsoft's reputation within the diplomatic community in DC. You will also work closely with other Microsoft teams to engage the U.S. government and third parties on other technology policy issues.
The role requires demonstrated policy expertise and experience in technology, diplomacy and international issues. Success in the role requires cross-group collaboration and a positive team spirit.

Executive Branch policy engagement : Engage with White House, State Department, Homeland Security, and other officials in government on strategic international, regulatory, and immigration issues.
International DC Community engagement:
Organizations: Engage with the International organizations and other multilateral bodies in Washington DC to drive Microsoft priorities there, such as the potential for digital transformation to support international development and economic growth
Embassy Engagement: Engaging with the DC Diplomatic community to foster and engage in the international intergovernmental discussion on tech policy issues
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Political Science, Business Administration, Technology, Law, Liberal Arts, Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years work experience in government affairs, corporate affairs, public policy, government, or related area
OR equivalent experience.
Government Affairs IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $154,500 - $273,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $199,600 - $299,400 per year.
