Google Senior Software Engineer, Filesystem, Pixel in Warsaw, Poland

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • Candidates will typically have 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.

  • Candidates will typically have 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.

  • Experience in Linux, Kernel, and C.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related technical field.

  • Candidates will typically have 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.

  • Experience with Android Kernel, Filesystems, Nand Flash Memory.

  • Experience developing accessible technologies.

  • Ability to find problems and address them quickly with reasonable approaches.

Filesystem and Storage stacks are key areas in the Linux kernel with respect to system performance and power. The team is responsible for managing the areas across all Pixel phone products. The work covers filesystems, block layer, and Universal Flash Storage (UFS) drivers. The team also communicates with multiple storage vendors and drives JEDEC/T10 standards to make the best choice of UFS parts every year per Pixel product. If required, they work with diverse Android teams to make the entire Android more performant and healthy.

In this role, you will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.

The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

  • Analyze and improve Android system performance from the entire IO stack perspective.

  • Manage performance, power, and stability problems on flash storage.

  • Contribute code changes in Android frameworks.

  • Maintain Kernel patches across various kernel branches.

  • Write upstream patches for filesystems or IO subsystems and explore new storage technology.
