Job Description Summary The peel room operator is responsible for the operation of line 1 and 2 peelers, raw receiving, and the starch system. The peeler operator has responsibilities for raw product variety, line quality, efficient peeling of the potatoes, and starch recovery. Job Description Actively practice and abide by all company work, safety, and personal hygiene rules and regulations as outlined in the employee handbook. Actively be engaged in safety, participate in daily risk assessments, safety activities, and demonstrate ownership as well as leadership in personal safety and the safety of other team members. Report all incidents, near misses, and any safety concerns immediately to lead/team leader. Setup, adjust, and monitor product for peel quality. Document and communicate necessary raw changes to lead/team leader. Setup, adjust, and monitor sizing equipment. Monitor, adjust equipment to meet quality standards, and document peel loss. Perform sanitation work as necessary to include; general cleaning and organization or the peel area. Perform major cleanup activities as assigned. Effectively communicate with leads, team leads, mechanics, and other team members, information regarding changes in product and line changes, equipment issues, and all other pertinent information. Complete all necessary certifications as assigned for the peeler operator position, may include confined space, fire watch, forklift, and pallet truck. Follow all lock out/tag out procedures for assigned work area and complete annual validation. Actively participate in Daily Schedule Control (DSC) meetings with your area team. Train new team members in the position of Peeler Operator. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel. Basic & Preferred Qualifications Education and/or Experience High school diploma or the equivalent is required. Experience desired but not required. Language Skills Must be able to communicate well both in written and oral form. Mathematical Skills Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide using a calculator. Computer Skills Must have a working knowledge of basic computer skills. Physical Demands Must walk on a level concrete surface where water is frequently used to rinse equipment. Slick areas exist due to the presence of potato matter, starch, and grease. However, to reach some areas within the plant, the team member must climb stairs and/or ladders, use man lifts and walk on cat walks. Must have good eye-hand coordination. Must have normal finger dexterity and range of motion. Is required to reach with his/her hands and arms repetitively. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds on frequent basis. Must be a
