Job Description

An employer is looking for a strong Substance Use Disorder Therapist to join their team in Waldorf, MD. This person will be responsible for evaluating clients' mental and physical health, addiction, or problem behavior and assessing their readiness for treatment. They will also help clients develop treatment goals and plans, review and recommend treatment options with clients and their families, and help clients develop skills and behaviors necessary to recover from their addiction or modify their behavior. This person will work with clients to identify behaviors or situations that interfere with their recovery and teach families about addiction or behavior disorders and help them develop strategies to cope with those problems. Finally, this person will also refer clients to other resources and services, such as job placement services and support groups and conduct outreach programs to help people identify the signs of addiction and other destructive behavior, as well as steps to take to avoid such behavior.

Skills and Requirements

- At least 2 years of experience working with substance use disorder patients as a therapist at the inpatient or outpatient level.

- Strong understanding of American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Criteria for determination of appropriate level of care.

- Comfortable working with patients in group settings.

- Strong skills with providing timely and accurate patient documentation.

- Holds a master's degree in counseling, Psychology, or a related field.

- Holds any one of the following Licensures/Certifications in the State of Maryland:

• Mental Health Counselor (MHC)

• Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)

• Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW)

• Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW)

• Licensed Certified Social Worker -- Clinical (LCSW-C)

• Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)

• Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC)

• Certified Associate Counselor -- Alcohol and Drug (CAC-AD)

• Certified Supervised Counselor -- Alcohol and Drug (CSC-AD)

• PhD in Psychology - Experience with Avatar EMR System

• Any additional relevant certifications or licensures null
