To support the positioning of MUFG as a lead bank in providing and anticipating key sector themes, insights on opportunities and solving strategic and financing challenges for our clients through the effective utilization of skill sets across corporate and investment banking, with a focus on debt financing/capital structuring and deal execution.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Successful candidate is expected to primarily support our regional Mobility initiative, whilst also extending across our sector coverage verticals including Industrials to proactively support deal flow and client engagement activity.

  • Sector Coverage undertakes key roles within Global Corporate and Investment Banking APAC, including (1) engaging senior client executives with thematic and scalable cross-sector insights; (2) originating event driven opportunities with local coverage, product and distribution partners as well as for leading execution of corporate M&A debt financings; and (3) engaging with internal stakeholders to promote optimal risk-return outcomes across the portfolio. The successful candidate will be involved in all of these activities with particular focus on credit analysis, modelling/valuation, due diligence, loan structuring and debt financing/deal execution particularly in Greater China region.

Drive strategic financing solutions from initiation, analysis, structuring and execution both externally as well as internally, including supporting the credit decision making through enabling better understanding and monitoring of deal risk.

Proactively engage senior level of clients in conjunction with Sector Coverage team members, Global Corporate Banking (GC) Heads and Product Office (PO) teams. The PO teams include, for example: a. Leveraged and Acquisition Finance / Project finance / ECA finance

b. Debt capital markets

c. Ratings advisory

d. Financial markets risk management

e. Treasury and transaction services

  • Deliver sector expertise particularly in the Mobility space including winners and losers, trends, potential deals.

  • Contribute to sector budgets and drive revenue, returns and portfolio allocation.

  • Link with partners globally to facilitate information, idea generation and solution delivery.

  • Contribute to establishment of the MUFG profile as lead bank in the Mobility sector (conference, branding etc.).

  • Provide oversight and leadership to junior bankers.

Job Requirements:

Educational qualification

  • Bachelor’s / Master’s degree from leading universities.

Work Experience

  • Demonstrated high performance from top tier institutional or investment banking roles with a focus on specialised finance and/or corporate finance. Prior deal experience in Mobility or Industrial sectors are a positive.

  • +6-8 years’ experience as a key member of marketing and deal execution teams at a leading bank. Prior experience delivering strategic sector knowledge and cross-products solutions.

  • Track record of successfully leading the identification, structuring and execution of financing transactions, and has developed a network of relationships in their sector.

  • Practical knowledge of corporate financing and sector based insights leading through to cross-product solutions.

Functional/Technical Skills and Knowledge:

  • Action-oriented, energetic, influential, collaborative and entrepreneurial.

  • Strong communication and influencing skills.

  • Strong credit knowledge with advanced financial analysis/modelling technical capabilities, application of credit rating methodologies and due diligence analysis skills.

  • Demonstrated deal leadership / execution excellence, delivering positive client outcomes in prior debt financings/loan underwritings for corporate M&A across the region, as well as event driven syndicated loans or corporate finance transactions.

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly understand and articulate what is required and to deliver on time critical bid situations, with a strong attention to detail.

  • Strong partnership skills and able to collaborate across internal departments (regionally and globally).

  • A strategic thinker and a proactive idea generator.

  • Strong up-to-date knowledge of the financing and risk markets of Mobility and Industrials.

  • Proficiency in Mandarin/ Korean will be a plus.
