Summary About the Position: Serves as a full deputy to the Sentinel Managing Counsel and as such, participates thoroughly in the accomplishment of overall office activities and objectives for the Omaha District Office of Counsel, Sentinel Program Team. Responsibilities As principal assistant to the Sentinel Managing Counsel, Omaha District Office of Counsel, Sentinel Program Team, shares full responsibility for and participates in all legal and administrative functions in the management of all activities. Reviews work of subordinates, determining legal sufficiency, conformance to policy, and general soundness of legal conclusions. At the direction of the Sentinel Managing Counsel, provides authoritative advice on Sentinel Project-related acquisitions in accordance with the Regulations of the Attorney General Governing the Review. At the direction of the Sentinel Managing Counsel, the Sentinel Deputy Managing Counsel provides legal advice and counsel on all real estate legal matters concerning the Sentinel Program. At the direction of the Sentinel Managing Counsel, provides legal advice in support of the Sentinel Program for the program’s Contracts mission, which includes contract formation and administration. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Education Requirement for Supervisory Attorney-Adviser (General), GS-0905-14: An applicant must have successfully completed a full course of study in a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) and have the first professional law degree (LL.B or JD). Only a law degree from an accredited college or university recognized by the American Bar Association is acceptable to meet positive education requirements. You MUST submit a copy of your transcript if you want to substitute your education for experience. If you claim qualifications based on education and do not submit a transcript, your education will not be used in making a qualifications determination and you may be found "not qualified." In addition to meeting the education basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Experience: Three or more years of professional legal experience, acquired after being admitted to the bar, commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of the position. This experience was acquired after being admitted to the bar. Examples of this experience are:1) Independently advise Senior Leaders on all aspects of legal and administrative function within the assigned organization; 2) Provide authoritative advice on real estate related acquisitions in accordance with written policy; 3) Experience advising upper level management on matters of a political or sensitive nature. OR Graduate from an ABA-Accredited Law School in the top 25% of the class or have an advance law degree such as an LLM which I may substitute for one year of the required professional legal experience and I have two years of professional legal experience, acquired after being admitted to the bar, commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of the position. This experience was acquired after being admitted to the bar. Examples of this experience are:1) Independently advise Senior Leaders on all aspects of legal and administrative function within the assigned organization; 2) Provide authoritative advice on real estate related acquisitions in accordance with written policy; 3) Experience advising upper level management on matters of a political or sensitive nature. Must be a current member in good standing of a bar of a state, territory of the United States, District of Columbia, or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
