Position Summary:

The Senior Director, Laboratory Optimization is responsible for the Strategy of Workflow Optimization services, creating and overseeing department team members, tasks, and projects. Establishes and communicates goals with managers that support the company's overall mission in achieving America's market and financial objectives (Clinical and Industry). Collaborates with the Global team on consulting services development programs.

This is a field based role with an expected travel heavy schedule. Anticipated travel to be 75%.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement department strategy to achieve the annual sales revenue budget for workflow optimization. Manage department P&L.

  • Create briefing materials, analyze department data, and represent Lab Optimization to organizational leadership.

  • Develop and maintain a robust team of Workflow Optimization Consultants in compliance with corporate HR policies and procedures.

  • Manage ongoing team development: LEAN, Six Sigma, and other expertise needed for the consultant role.

  • Oversee the work of managers/consultants, provide feedback, and take corrective action as needed.

  • Support team members in their understanding of financial responsibilities and lead them in increasing service delivery and ROI.

  • Lead the expansion for support of Lab Optimization services in the North Americas region (Industry and Clinical), internally and externally.

  • Direct third-party collaborations as needed for project deliveries.

  • Lead development, design, and implementation of operational governance capabilities for the Lab Optimization team.

  • Develop and maintain Consultant team KPI's and dashboards.

  • Collaborate with regional and global marketing teams as well as the Field Applications teams to advance Workflow Optimization services, market awareness, and penetration.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Education, Skills, & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Science, Business, and/or medical device background preferred.

  • 15+ years’ experience in clinical laboratory/medical device setting;

  • 7+ years’ people management experience required.

  • Clinical Microbiology expertise required

  • LEAN Six Sigma certification (minimum of a green belt) required. Black belt is preferred.

  • Travel is required with an estimated 75% in the field.

  • Laboratory consulting experience or related strongly preferred with Lab Workflow, operational efficiency, workflow standardization.

  • Experience Running a full Microbiology or Molecular Biology lab highly preferred

  • Change management experience with ability to influence change preferred.

  • Working knowledge of cost-accounting/finances as it relates to clinical labs preferred.

  • Project Management experience preferred.
