Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) to provide individualized educational services to preschool children (ages 3 to 5 years old) throughout New York City’s five boroughs: Manhattan, Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, and Staten Island. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing specialized instruction to students with disabilities in their natural environment, including homes and community settings, ensuring that each child receives the individualized support necessary to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. This role involves collaborating with families, educators, and related service providers to develop and implement tailored educational plans that align with each student’s unique learning needs. As a SEIT, you will have the opportunity to make a profound impact on the lives of students with disabilities by fostering a supportive learning atmosphere that promotes independence, confidence, and a love of learning. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, as you will be required to track student progress, conduct assessments, and maintain up-to-date records in compliance with relevant regulations. Responsibilities
Provide individualized instruction and support to students with disabilities in various settings.
Collaborate with families, teachers, and service providers to establish and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Conduct assessments and monitor student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as necessary.
Create and maintain an inclusive and adaptive learning environment that meets the needs of diverse learners.
Facilitate communication between students, families, and educational staff to strengthen support systems.
Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching effectiveness.
Maintain accurate records of educational progress and communicate regularly with stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Special Education (required)
Candidates with an Internship Certificate may also apply
New York State Certification in (required):
NYS Early Childhood Special Education (Birth to Grade 2) OR
NYS Student with Developmental Disabilities (Birth to Grade 2) OR
NYS Student with Developmental Disabilities (All Grades)
