What We Want

The Program Coordinator I for Undergraduate Student Success, under general supervision, will assist in the development, and implementation of programming related to undergraduate student success, which includes, but is not limited to: First 2 Finish, Regents’ Scholars, Transfer Students, Probation Students, Living-Learning Communities, and Arts & Sciences Leadership Scholars. The Program Coordinator I will be tasked with implementing efforts to assist undergraduate students, especially first-generation students in the acquisition of academic, social, and professional skills. The PC I will contribute to maintaining records and program databases. The selected candidate will also assist with presentations, meetings, and workshops and may have a role in office communications and marketing. What You Need to Know

Salary: Starting at $45,000.00

Special Note: Position may require occasional evening and weekend hours and may require occasional travel. This position is not remote.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Two years of relevant experience involving student success initiatives for undergraduate students and/or event management ( Master’s degree in Higher Education Student Services may qualify as equivalent experience)

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to be helpful, respectful, approachable, and team oriented

  • Ability to build strong working relationships and a positive work environment

  • Knowledge of spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling, or related field

  • More than two years of experience in higher education program management including some course management and academic counseling, and classroom instruction

  • Familiarity with TAMU portals, such as Argos, Navigate, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Student Success Programming: Contributes to the planning, development, and implementation of current and new undergraduate student programs to improve first year retention and empower students. Supports the establishment of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and strategic planning. Assists with the development of and updates training materials for success programming. Presents content to undergraduate students. Assists with planning and/or leads program events and projects each semester. Advises cohort of assigned students in relation to academic, social, and professional goals. Assists in reviewing and integrating successful support techniques for cohort students who are in an academic concern status. Ensures student non-academic needs are being identified and making a connection to appropriate resources and/or suggesting implementing concepts to meet student needs. Follows university protocols regarding students of concern, Title IX, FERPA, etc. Communicates in a timely manner with students regarding program events and updates. Responds to inquiries from students, faculty, and others regarding program policies, procedures, and requirements. Uses various TAMU portals to provide up-to-date information, and to provide data on first-year programming. Prepares reports on program activities. Contributes to evaluation and assessment needs. Attends local, regional, and/or national professional meetings related to undergraduate student success.

  • Supervision: Collaborates in the coordination and assignment of student mentors for programs. Serves as direct contact and supervisor for assigned group of student leaders.

  • Collaboration with faculty, advisors and other coordinators to support student success outcomes: Collaborates and maintains successful working partnerships with faculty, academic advisors, and peer Program Coordinators. May teach a course for relevant program.
