EquipmentShare is searching for a Principal Program Manager for our corporate office in Columbia, MO, to support our team as the department continues to grow. This position can sit remote in the United States.

This Principal Program Manager leads operational excellence initiatives that transform the capabilities of the EquipmentShare workforce, enabling our employees to be more effective at delivering exceptional customer service.

As an individual contributor, they report to the People Operations, Optimization and Strategy team Director, which builds solutions that accelerate EquipmentShare’s ability to provide unparalleled service delivery in our industry. This PM creates strategic opportunities through continuous improvement, delivering efficiency, effectiveness, and quality gains that enhance the employee and customer experience. They engage with cross-functional business partners and leaders at all levels to deliver policy, program and process solutions to the field. Their work helps synchronize workflows by improving information flow, decision making and resourcing.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead Initiatives that Accelerate EquipmentShare’s Workforce Effectiveness: This role leads high-impact operational excellence initiatives that transform ES’ capabilities, deliver cost efficiencies to ES’ bottom line, and fuel long-term growth. Priorities include optimizing Talent Acquisition team efficiency by leading business process redesign efforts to streamline and accelerate Recruiting team workflows to attract top-tier talent, and spearheading cross-functional HR process, structure and system enhancements to optimize support to our workforce by partnering with the People Analytics and People Systems (IT) teams.

  • Drive Operational Synchronization Efforts: The Principal of People Operations helps design and implement PFO program management systems to align goals and resources against priorities during annual OPEX and workforce planning cycle management. They shape milestones, assess key performance indicators, set conditions to enable timely business decisions that reduce risk and maximize outcomes, and lead monthly/quarterly/annual business reviews. They build and manage the team’s operational roadmap and Rhythm of Business, and coordinate the execution of operational program efforts. They serve as the Business Operations team lead to support enhancements and transitions to new HCM Systems, and partner with the IT/HRIS teams to support successful people-related data management initiatives.

  • Continuous Improvement of the Employee Journey: The Principal of People Operations identifies core business processes and inspects key engagements across the employee journey, diving deep to improve the value streams that contribute to the total employee experience. They leverage expertise in business operations, continuous improvement and change management to champion enhancements that accelerate EquipmentShare’s ability to attract & hire, focus & develop, and engage & retain.

  • Thought Leadership: The Principal of People Operations plays a crucial role in shaping the organization's overall people strategy. They work closely with the executive team to align HR initiatives with the company's business objectives, helping drive growth, innovation, and organizational effectiveness. They support and lead strategic HR business assessments and policy/program (re)design, evaluate and kickstart HR-related business transformation opportunities, and lead the subsequent transition to operational programs.

  • Change Management: This role provides leadership and guidance to support successful organizational change initiatives. They help plan information campaigns, develop messaging content, and coordinate campaign execution to ensure that the right messages are delivered to the right audience at the right time.

  • A high-performing, experienced HR-related senior program/project manager who has led transformational change, skilled at guiding cross-functional teams through ambiguity

  • A clear communicator & influencer with a passion working with people and building effective project teams with multiple stakeholders

  • A customer-obsessed problem-solver able to define, measure, analyze, improve and control outcomes

  • Experience in working within Human Resources Change Management

  • Experience in process design, including the creation of visual workflow products (e.g., process maps)

  • Experience developing and maintaining program tracking boards (e.g., Monday.com)

  • Experience leading a Workday software implementation effort

  • Demonstrated analytical skills; ability to interpret data, and clearly communicate findings

  • Experience influencing decision makers written and verbally

  • Proficiency with or ability to learn Google Workspace (spreadsheets, documents, slides)

  • Experience working in both large and small organizations

    Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent business/leadership experience in Business, Process Improvement, Program Management, Systems Engineering, or similar fields

  • 5+ years Human Resources program/project management experience

  • Experience delivering quantifiable results in support of strategic programs

  • Experience leading projects to build and implement business process flows in HR software systems of record (specifically, Workday and Greenhouse)

  • Track record of leading cross functional teams across locations and business units

  • Experience creating program/project charters, timelines, milestones, and stakeholder communication

  • Proficiency with or ability to learn Process Mapping software (Lucid, or similar)

  • Potential for occasional travel (estimated 5%)
