Job Description

As a Principal Technologist in our Performance Digital Power team focused on High Density VR, you will be a key player driving innovation and vetting technologies focused on delivering best in class power density VR’s for cutting edge AI/compute ASIC’s. You will engage cross functionally with a diverse team including systems engineering, software engineering, IC design, and other applications engineering teams to deliver the most innovative power solutions in the rapidly changing high density segment.

Key Responsibilities

This path finding role will comprehend key market challenges and provide technical direction including in-depth analysis, modeling, and literature review. A broad comprehension of DC/DC power conversion challenges such as PDN concerns, passive component limitations, thermal management, and system level limitations is required. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leverage broad experience to drive clarity of action in the VPD/IVR arena. Prepare executive summary level material to drive high level discussions with Sr Leaders and key customers.

  • Participate in comprehensive modeling exercises spanning electrical, magnetic, and thermal performance at the system level.

  • Identify technology limitations related to Renesas capabilities and ancillary technologies that could limit our success.

  • Help move innovation to practical reality by synthesizing the academic arena into clear actionable tradeoffs/choices. Identify and avoid dead ends.

  • Identify key areas where Renesas can develop disruptive capabilities.

  • Support systems/applications engineering with deep understanding of key problems and aid in synthesizing a compelling Renesas response.

Qualifications

This role requires deep technical strength in high performance power management related to CPU’s and other high current ASIC’s. Broad technical capability/exposure will be combined with excellent technical communication skills.

Typical requirements are:

  • Minimum of 15-20 years of relevant semiconductor and systems experience.

  • MS degree in engineering (EE – power electronics preferred), with PhD degree preferred.
