Indian Health Service Nurse (Outpatient) in United States

Summary The Nurse/Clinical Nurse positions are located within the Great Plains Area Indian Health Service. There may not be immediate vacancies at all locations. The purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive care to pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients within the Great Plains Area. Responsibilities These positions will be located within the Great Plains Area / Indian Health Service. There MAY NOT be immediate vacancies at all locations. The purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive care to pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients within the Great Plains Area.Duties: Perform professional nursing duties in ambulatory, inpatient, pediatric, or other areas of nursing in a clinic or hospital setting. Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients based on nursing assessments and on the physician's medical plan of care. Identify individual patient problems and develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. GS-0610-04: At a minimum, an associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs , Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree or diploma was obtained. Specialized Experience for GS-05: Possession of a bachelor's degree in Nursing with no experience. OR, Possession of a diploma or associate degree in professional nursing and one full year of professional nursing experience. Specialized Experience for GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Provides direct professional nursing care to patients, reviewing history of medical care, assessing current health conditions and evaluating ability of patient to self-care. Provide clinical and procedural nursing interventions administering medication in accordance with the plan of care and assisting providers with procedures. Participating in patient centered medical home by providing care coordination based on patient needs, assisting patient in establishing goals and providing education to patient and families to improve their health outcome OR Possession of a bachelor's degree in Nursing and eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement provision; OR, Possession of a diploma or associate degree in professional nursing and two full years of professional nursing experience; OR, Completion of at least one full year of graduate education in a professional nursing educational program. Specialized Experience for GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Provides professional nursing care principles, practices and procedures required to assess needs of patients; knowledge of pharmaceuticals, their desired effects, side effects, and complications of their use; recognizing adverse signs and symptoms which are not always apparent and to react promptly in emergency situations including implementation of life saving procedures; providing counseling, guidance and health instruction to patients; and identifies disease entities in order to recognize complications and therapeutic interventions required. Provide clinical and procedural nursing interventions administering medication in accordance with the plan of care and assisting providers with procedures. Participating in patient centered medical home by providing care coordination based on patient needs, assisting patient in establishing goals and providing education to patient and families to improve their health outcomes. OR; Possession of a master's degree in professional nursing. Time In Grade (Merit Promotion Only) Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level.
