Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) Reactors Division Director to work at our MFC Complex. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our MFC Desert facility with every Friday off.

The MFC Reactor Division Director enables and accelerates the demonstration, testing, and deployment of advanced reactors. Leads teams that operate the Transient Reactor Test (TREAT) facility and the Neutron Radiography Reactor (NRAD).

You will oversee the strategic direction, leadership, and management of all operational activities across MFC. Ensures facilities are operating within their defined safety basis for safe and consistent operations to achieve successful implementation and delivery of research focused on nuclear energy, science, and technology.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop all aspects of a nuclear management program to operate advanced reactors being built at INL as part of the National Reactor Innovation Center (NRIC).
  • Be primary Conduct of Operations advisor to the MFC Associate Laboratory Director.
  • Responsible to proactively provide recommendations to MFC leadership team and operational personnel to ensure consistent management and compliance to Conduct of Operations regulations in all nuclear and radiological facilities.
  • Set operational standards and provide final qualification approval for all MFC nuclear operations facility leadership team members.
  • Evaluates operational events and provides guidance to nuclear and radiological facility leadership to provide an integrated complex response.
  • Key interface with DOE-ID site office regarding event response and conduct of operation improvement efforts.
  • Implement a scientific and operational strategy for TREAT and NRAD that effectively supports MFC goals for research outcomes, operational excellence, and execution of the mission in a safe, secure, and compliant manner.
  • Provide line management direction including supervision of department managers, salary planning, staffing, employee relations and performance management.
  • Manage budget of $50M.

*Minimum Requirements: * * Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with an Engineering degree preferred. * Minimum of 15 years of leadership experience managing nuclear facilities, with experience in operations, engineering or safety analysis. * Extensive knowledge of nuclear conduct of operations, nuclear system engineering, nuclear quality assurance and nuclear safety analysis is desirable. * This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

  • The target pay range for this position is $211,751.00 - $304.369.00 annually. The full pay range is $140,460.00 - $386,244.00. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
