Generac Power Systems Maintenance Technician III- Journeyman (2nd Shift) in Oshkosh, Wisconsin

Primary Purpose

The Maintenance Technician Journeyman will perform emergency, routine and preventive maintenance on all production and building equipment while maintaining safety and communicating effectively. This position is responsible for daily problem solving and repair of robotic, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical or small outdoor power equipment associated with manufacturing and facility operations. The technician is responsible for complex assignments which require project management experience as well as a broad understanding of the discipline and function of production related work areas. They have the ability to train others in all functions and facilitate continuous improvement activities to help reduce down time and product defects. This position also has the responsibility for the planning and implementation of new products designs. They act as a technical resource, contribute to process improvements and assist others in achieving department goals.

Major Responsibilities

Diagnostics and Repair:

• Support and service of production lines within the facility

• Mechanical, electrical and PLC troubleshooting and repair

• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance of production line equipment

• Seasonal external facility maintenance

• Waste management and simple routine facility maintenance

• Small engine repair

• Reading and interpreting blue prints, drawings and building schematics

• Miscellaneous facility maintenance as needed

• Reading and interpreting blue prints, drawings and building schematics

• Replacement of broken or outdated building mechanicals, lighting or bathroom fixtures

• Build manufacturing lines and cells to support production needs

• Advanced mechanical, electrical and AB PLC troubleshooting and repair

• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance of production line equipment

• Interpret and design blue prints, drawings and building schematics

Clerical:

• Email and phone conversations with vendors

• Ordering parts and materials

• Maintenance of 5S program

• Maintaining compliance with training programs

• Maintenance and system entry of PM’s and work orders

Project Management:

• Coordinate resources for projects with external vendors

• Create and implement timelines for work completion

• Provide technical support to project managers and engineers as needed

• Assist with relocating complex machines, equipment and components

Basic Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED

• Journeyman card in maintenance related field

• 5 years of experience with equipment and automation consistent with metal fabrication, paint or assembly operations.

Additional Qualifications:

· Ability to effectively communicate

· Contributes to identifying problems and implementing appropriate countermeasures. Strong mechanical aptitude, ability to understand complex issues and systematically work toward resolution.

· Working knowledge of PLC hardware and programming systems, ability to maintain and troubleshoot PLC controlled equipment is required.

· Ability to work from drawings, sketches, and blueprints.

· Intermediate PC knowledge.

· Ability to interpret drawings, schematics and machine specifications.

· Ability to acquire and maintain certifications for operation of service equipment.

· Ability to train

Preferred Qualifications:

· Intermediate mechanical aptitude, ability to understand complex issues and systematically work toward resolution.

Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
