Summary About the Position: The Health System Specialist GS-0671-14 requires experience training analysts, educating key staff and communicating to senior leaders, as well as knowledge in resource management and clinical operations. This position is located in San Antonio, TX and/or Falls Church, VA. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Responsibilities Analyze business, organizational and/or operational requirements to support the business needs of stakeholders including the Defense Health Agency (DHA), the Department of the Army, Air Force and Navy. Train analysts to develop solutions driven by requirements and supported by data to include statistical analysis, data visualization, research design and decision support in order to improve decision making at all levels of the organization. Oversee the teams and individuals supporting Defense Health Networks, Military Treatment Facilities service lines, programs, or lines of effort. Oversee performance of statistical studies, complex retrievals of medical and business data, develop presentations, and present findings and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels, to include Defense Health Agency leadership. Provide consultant services to other organizations requesting complex data extraction and analyses to include Military Health System Mart (M2), Medical Data Repository (MDR) Data, and other data source queries and programming questions. Basic Requirements: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes, analyzing healthcare financial data for efficiency; assisting in overseeing the performance of statistical studies within the Military Healthcare System; and utilizing specialized visualization tools and software to integrate data and display analysis in a meaningful array. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Health Systems Analysis Health Systems Data Management Healthcare Operations Administration Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13). Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
