The Director Business Intelligence - HR Reporting & Analytics Enablement will oversee the design and implementation of end-to-end BI solutions within Workday and Tableau. The Director will be responsible for managing a fast-paced and talented team of business intelligence consultants and reporting experts who develop new tools supporting people analytics. The Director will also serve as Product Owner for a high performing team that develops reports and dashboards in Workday, Tableau, and Qualtrics. They will partner with various technical and business stakeholders, prioritize the backlog, maintain high quality and governance of metrics, and ensure alignment of work to the strategic vision.

The Director will bring strategic perspective, the ability to convert large amounts of raw data into usable reports and dashboards, and proven experience developing talent and managing teams. An agile mindset with a focus on collaboration, innovative solutioning, and communicating with both technical and business stakeholders is critical to success in the role.

The HR Reporting & Analytics Enablement team provides data and analytics solutions around all areas of the employee journey, including talent acquisition, employee profile, engagement, diversity equity and inclusion, compensation, career mobility, retention, and more. The Director will report to the VP, HR

This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working out of our Hartford, CT office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end development of best-in-class reporting and analytical capabilities (Tableau, Workday, Qualtrics); ensure that all dashboards and reports developed align to internal design framework and quality standards

  • Manage a team of business intelligence consultants and report developers, including supporting their day-to-day work, and coaching and developing them to up skill and innovate solutions

  • Serve as Product Owner in a fast-paced agile environment; define, prioritize, and manage a backlog of work, mitigate blockers, review and accept user stories, and manage stakeholder expectations

  • Partner heavily with the leads of HR Operations, Technology, and Data Engineering to ensure end-to-end updates and impacts to analytics are effectively managed and communicated

  • Partner with stakeholders and leaders to provide technical consultation and thought leadership on new and innovative analytical solutions

  • Champion data literacy throughout the organization and provide support/ solicit feedback on tools

  • Provide subject matter expertise about the data, metrics, reports, tools, and modern business intelligence technologies

  • Foster an innovative, diverse, and inclusive environment that encourages collaboration and problem-solvingQualifications:

  • A minimum 10+ years’ experience ideally in a large corporate setting, with various tools used for data exploration and business intelligence (e.g. Tableau, Power BI)

  • Agile experience/mindset. Portfolio delivery experience, engaging in the full lifecycle experience, from planning to delivery and management of the solution lifecycle to produce solution designs that are viable and can be successfully constructed, implemented, operated, and managed

  • Strong understanding of human capital metrics and their practical application in shaping strategic business decisions, as well as hands-on experience with HR-related systems such as Workday and Qualtrics

  • Ability to work with a diverse team of stakeholders to prioritize and manage many simultaneous deliverables, understand the unique needs and perspectives of each stakeholder, coordinate efforts to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner, and balance resources to meet the demands of various projects

  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences including senior leadership

  • In depth knowledge and experience working with Data management and BI strategies, principles and practices including experience with framework for data quality, metric governance, stewardship

  • Working knowledge of technology and information systems, with focus on management information, data analysis, data modeling, relational database, and reporting tools including real-time and historical reporting and analytical needs

  • Strong presentation and collaboration skills and can communicate all aspects of the job requirements, including the creation of formal documentation

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage others successfully

  • Proven track record of taking initiative and striving for continuous improvement. Experience implementing innovative ideas, projects, and business solutions

  • Experience working in cloud hosting platforms like AWS a plus

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Management Information Systems, Data & Analytics or other related field strongly preferred

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$133,280 - $199,920
