About this role

The Operations and Maintenance Superintendent is part of the Surface Operations team. Reporting to the Process and Maintenance Manager, he/she oversees activities and ensures the continuation of operational and maintenance activities at ore processing facilities and surface infrastructures. The Superintendent adheres to the company's principles by adopting a management approach geared towards sustainable development. He/she promotes Newmont's values using the standards dictated by the company and applies the key principles of operational excellence and the rules of the organization's code of conduct.

Essential Duties

  • Responsible for ensuring that the department's safe production results are achieved.

  • Coach Operations and Maintenance supervisors to ensure their continued development and performance evaluation, including recruitment, evaluation and promotion.

  • Participate in the preparation of the production plan and develop operating strategies in line with corporate objectives and visions.

  • Establish and monitor the achievement of team objectives

  • Manage operational documents such as lockout sheets, permits, procedures and work instructions.

  • Responsible for coaching maintenance supervisors to achieve execution targets for scheduled work.

  • Actively participates in planning meetings for the implementation of maintenance schedules

  • Works closely with the planning team to implement major plant shutdown schedules

  • Monitor and evaluate work cards using the QMA method

  • Prepare and present work feedback to crews

  • Monitor and manage operational and health & safety events in the sector (investigation, documentation, follow-up).

  • Cost management and monitoring (Opex, Capex)

  • Preparation of monthly accruals

Essentials Duties (continued)

  • Invoice management/approval

  • Participate in Plein Potentiel projects to improve safety, productivity and costs.

  • Participate in updating and monitoring the asset management plan and in optimizing the sector's fixed and mobile equipment. Align management strategies with corporate objectives.

  • Work with colleagues in process, metallurgy, surface services and maintenance to ensure cohesion in the activities of each sector in order to achieve common objectives.

  • Respect, know and promote the company's regulations and policies, particularly in terms of health and safety.

  • Replaces the Department Manager during absences

  • All tasks related to the performance of duties

Training & Experience

  • University degree or college diploma in metallurgy, ore processing, industrial mechanics, civil engineering, mechanical engineering

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in mineral processing, with strong exposure to gold operations and management

  • Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite, PI datalink

  • Bilingualism in French and English essential
