The Economist Business Development Manager, Events in Singapore

For clients of The Economist Group, event sponsorship creates a branding, engagement and messaging platform that is a vital part of the marketing mix. The Business Development Manager’s responsibility is to drive sponsorship sales for events and conferences in the Asia region. This includes the full portfolio of event sponsorship opportunities on our scheduled events calendar.
Accountabilities
In the role you would be expected to:
Meet or exceed sponsorship sales targets
Establish and maintain key account relationships in focus markets
Take sponsor Lead responsibilities for selected events
Coordinate sponsorship activities in liaison with the media and content solutions team
Identify and lead sales efforts on integrated marketing opportunities as appropriate
Support colleagues in the Event teams and around the region as necessary
Liaise with associates and agents in the territory as necessary
Experience, skills and professional attributes
To succeed in the role you would have:
Extensive business-to-business sales experience in the Asia where you have progressively achieved higher targets
Experience in selling sponsorship with demonstrated results
Proven ability at event sponsorship sales and relationship management
Regular sales log reference kept for weekly and monthly sponsorship calls and meetings—and integration in com
Bachelor degree holder in economics, business or international studies (preferred)
Strong written and spoken English
Asian language abilities a distinct advantage
You will be able to demonstrate:
A self-starter, able to work and research new business and pitch to prospective clients
Ability to be a results-oriented person with the drive and determination to succeed
Ability to be an excellent communicator with a strong presence, good presentation skills and rapport with clients at senior and management level
Ability to be independent and resourceful, but totally committed to being part of a dynamic regional team
Ability to meet deadlines and cope well under pressure
Good awareness of economic and political issues affecting business investment and operations in the region
Ability to be well-organised and efficient with excellent time management skills to meet target and deadlines with minimal supervision
Persistence in meeting pre-set targets and aiming high if targets are met
