The DACH & Iberia Financial Controller will be a key part of the Finance Control organisation, working closely with their market leadership team & Finance Business Partner to understand the risks facing the organisation, particularly financial, fiscal, reporting and fraud risks. The Financial Controller will play a key role in ensuring the finance operating model works well, working closely with GBS, to deliver robust financial processes and financial statements and provide an expert escalation point to remove any blockers identified. Countries supported will be Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain & Portugal.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead & deliver required changes to financial processes, implementation of accounting standard changes in your jurisdiction and lead on financial aspects of system improvements

  • Provide expert IFRS and local GAAP accounting policy insights to ensure compliance to both business as usual processes in addition to adhoc material transactions or business changes

  • Partner with GBS to provide financial insights and guidance to enabler delivery of financial statements

  • Partner with the Financial Control team and Global Process Owners to ensure the approriraness and compliance with continuous improvement iniativies

  • Provide expert support to stakeholders on the management of both internal and external audit requirements

  • Ensure activities across the finance teams in your jurisdiction are aligned to the finance operating model and lead on continuing to simplify & standardise activities

  • Be an advocate and trusted partner of the GBS – ensure issues are resolved quickly and efficiently and be a change agent for standardisation

  • Support the GBS RTR team as they prepare the statutory accounts for the entity

Skills & Experience:

  • Inquistive nature

  • Ability to lead on the management of complex & conflicting priorities

  • Self starter

  • Confident to interact with a wide range of stakeholders, including the ability to challenge where approrirate to ensure the best outcome is achievement

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to quickly take complex and detailed information and provide an executive summary of the material aspects

Qualification

  • University level degree in Finance or similar business subject

  • Experience in working in a finance environment with preference in a multi-site global company

  • Qualified chartered accountant or similar

Principal Contacts & Purpose of Contact

Regional Controller Europe – line manager and overall responsibility for financial control & compliance in Europe

Global Business Centre – advocate and daily interactions with Record to Report, Purchase to Pay and Order to cash towers

Finance Business Partner – daily interaction working together as outlined by the finance operating model to deliver on all aspects of finance for jurisdiction

Market leadership team – be the voice of financial control & compliance within your markets

Other global finance teams (Treasury, Reporting, Tax etc) – partner to ensure all aspects of financial control are delivered for your area of responsibility

Travel Requirements

Infrequent travel (10%) to cover all geographic areas in your jurisdiction including visits to any local Convatec office where applicable to liaise with any local finance and non finance colleagues. Additional infrequent travel to GBS centre in Lisbon, Portugal to partner with GBS organisation. Travel expectation would be no more than one working week at a time and would involve overnight stay.

  • Speaking: English to a fluent level (business & non business)

  • Writing/Reading: English to a fluent level (business & non business)

Additional languages relevant to the jurisidctions supported would be beneficial but not essential

Working Conditions Job sharing will be considered in line with Convatec’s global policy on flexible working. Convatec’s hybrid working policy applies where successful candidates would be expected to be in our GBS Lisbon office at least 1 day per week.
