Howmet Aerospace Sales Manager - Japan in Japan
Essential Functions
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving profitable revenue growth and increasing penetration of the Aerospace & Defence (A&D) market throughout Japan.
The candidate shall be based in Japan, ideally at / in close proximity to one of the major market areas of Tokyo, Nagoya and Kobe. The role will be responsible for the A&D market on all Howmet Fastening System (HFS) products by managing and developing both new and existing accounts within a competitive and highly technical sales environment.
The candidate should be familiar with the Japanese A&D market and have a network established within the industry, including the “Heavy Industries” (KHI, MHI, IHI); trading companies (ANA, JAL, JACOM, Jupitor, Mikuni, SUNWA, etc.); and aftermarket (airlines and MROs). While the market base is diverse, this role will primarily focus on growing market share at the Heavy Industries; identify and promote sales via Howmet Aerospace Distribution (HAD).
Specific Responsibilities
Prioritize, develop & target new business opportunities in line with HFS strategy
Identify, develop & sustain HFS accounts within Japan on the A&D sector
Provide intelligence on Japanese market and customers; support or conduct negotiations to successful outcome
Manage effectively the expectations of the customers in coordination with HFS and HAD teams
Coordinate with relevant functions to provide customers with technical & application training
Develop & support the network of trading companies and distributors
Drive the addition of new products and the modification/replacement of existing products within customer base via customer engagement and management of trading companies
In-person meetings on a quarterly basis (more as required) with key customers; other domestic travel, including attendance or hosting of to trade shows as needed to develop business
Assist with the development of sales, marketing and business plans, forecasts and promotional programs
Implement relevant sales and promotional programs
Ensure customers have up to date product information
Compile & submit accurate sales forecasts in a timely manner
Comply with all internal sales reporting in line with corporate expectations

Education
Ideally, Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain or related discipline
Other qualifications with sufficient related industry experience may be considered
Experience & Background.
At least 5yrs work experience in Technical or Technical Sales environment
Experience in Supplier or Distributor management a plus
Knowledge in contract writing and management

Able to travel extensively and use home office as base; occasional overseas travel as required
English language – both written and spoken
