General Manager, Japan:

This role leads all operations in Japan, develops and grows our commercial presence in the Japanese market by deepening partnerships with current customers and developing relationships with new accounts and key opinion leaders. Oversees the development and implementation of both existing and new regional marketing strategies and product launches and has a key role in empowering the commercial teams, attracting, retaining and developing exceptional talent. Manage the commercial P&L for the Japan Commercial operations.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversees the operations in Japan and ensures that the teams operate efficiently and collaboratively in a matrix environment

  • Facilitates the interdepartmental collaboration and works with functional leaders to solve issues and ensure effective operations

  • Generate ideas, proposals, strategy to pursue key business opportunities and understand the impact of industry and regulatory trends

  • Develop sales planning, territorial coverage and budgeting processes by aligning and empowering the team

  • Ensures sales and financial targets are met

  • Oversees and contributes to the development of the regional marketing plan

  • Establish and nurture partnerships with cardiac surgeons and other physician subspecialties with the aim of developing existing markets and increase market share and revenue goals

  • Develop high-performance sales teams by ensuring that the appropriate training programs are in place to build product knowledge and selling techniques

  • Foster collaboration, assisting the team in dealing with pressure and setbacks, and motivates the team to achieve results

  • Build a culture of partnership, collaboration, and accountability

  • Aim for outstanding outcomes and maintain a long-term commitment to our patients and customers by attracting and developing the very best talent

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Commercially driven with a passion for collaboration, externally and internally

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects

  • Enjoys an agile, patient, and quality-focused environment

  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects

  • Strong leadership skills and understanding on how to leverage a matrix environment

  • Proven ability to employe various communication vehicles to drive alignment, motivation, and team effectiveness

  • Ability to plan and manage budgets, understanding financial and operational levers and variables that affect margins, control expenses and ensure a sound bottom line

  • Experience putting in place effective training programs to build product knowledge and selling techniques

  • Ability to build high performance teams by attracting, hiring, motivating, retaining and developing talent

  • Resource management experience to prioritize activities and allocate resources appropriately to the most critical needs

  • Proficient in Japanese and English language

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business Administration or related field

  • MBA or Master's Degree considered an asset

  • 10+ years' experience in sales, marketing, and/or related field
