Purpose
The Credit Management (CM) function centralizes core credit management and risk leadership, essential for effective credit risk management and escalation. It supports GCIB Coverage and work with Sector Coverage, AIBD functions, as well as relevant APAC teams for efficient task allocation. The role is accountable and responsible for the credit process in Hong Kong, supporting origination efforts and ongoing monitoring with internal team support. Key functions include end-to-end credit preparation, in-country/sector Watch processes, emerging risk analysis, credit cost management, and RWA fixes. CM supports GCIB APAC's objectives by ensuring high-quality credit analysis and monitoring post-origination, assessing borrowers' financial performance, and identifying emerging risks. CM also collaborates with MUFG MGS to enhance credit process partnerships and improve quality and efficiency across GCIB APAC, aligning MGS activities with regional processes.
Job Responsibilities
Support the Department Head in day-to-day credit management processes, proactively identifying emerging risks, themes, and opportunities to drive better risk and return outcomes for the Bank.
Assist in portfolio construction to ensure banking the right clients and sectors, consistent with risk appetite and credit strategy of the bank.
Partner with GCIB to leverage on MGS, developing and executing a long-term plan to enhance MGS use and outcomes.
Support Coverage through risk management activities, identifying emerging risks and opportunities, with P&L and credit cost KPIs.
Manage regional RWA/capital initiatives impacting counterparty booking and risk grading, with agreed KPIs for RWA management and mitigation.
Support coverage on customer selection, adhering to risk appetite parameters and deal escalation processes, and engage with second and third lines of defence on risk escalation and awareness.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the region, including Portfolio and Coverage team members, credit offices, etc.
Demonstrate strong leadership through guidance and mentorship of team members, leading training and team meetings, and maintaining a proactive and positive approach.
Drive quality submissions, lead local/regional projects, standardize processes, strengthen MGS engagement, and manage concerns with advice from in-country Coverage, credit offices, etc.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in business, commerce, law, or related disciplines.
Masters of Finance, MBA or CFA qualification will be an advantage.
Minimum 10 years’ experience in corporate and institutional lending, with solid experience in credit analysis and/or credit risk management functions in reputable financial institutions.
Strong credit analysis experience in corporate finance transactions. Experience in structured lending will be an advantage.
Strong financial knowledge and analysis acumen, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Strong skills in credit writing, financial analysis and modelling, legal documentation, and debt structuring
Understanding of financial and economic markets.
Strong leadership and people management experience with proven interpersonal and presentation skills.
Team player mentality.
Self-starter attitude with initiative, drive, enthusiasm, and curiosity.
