IHG Engineering Manager - InterContinental Residences Abu Dhabi in United Arab Emirates

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager who will oversee the maintenance, repairs, operation of engineering systems and also be responsible to ensure compliance with safety regulations and who implements emergency response plans to ensure guest and staff safety.

A little taste of your day-to-day:

Every day is different, but you’ll mostly be:

  • Supervise and coordinate the maintenance and repair of all engineering systems within the hotel premises, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.

  • Conduct regular inspections to identify issues or potential areas for improvement, ensuring the smooth operation of all equipment and facilities.

  • Lead and manage the engineering team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation of staff members.

  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively, ensuring that workload is distributed efficiently among team members.

  • Oversee renovation and construction projects within the hotel, coordinating with contractors, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure timely completion and adherence to quality standards.

  • Develop project plans, budgets, and timelines, and monitor progress to ensure projects stay on track.

  • Develop and manage the departmental budget, including forecasting expenses, tracking spending, and optimizing costs without compromising on quality or safety.

  • Procure necessary supplies, equipment, and services, negotiating contracts and maintaining relationships with vendors and suppliers.

  • Collaborate with other departments, such as housekeeping and front office, to address guest concerns and ensure a positive experience for all guests.

  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe and secure environment for guests and staff members.

  • Stay up to date with relevant regulations and industry standards pertaining to building codes, safety regulations, and environmental laws.

  • Ensure that the hotel's engineering operations comply with all applicable regulations and standards, maintaining necessary documentation and records.

  • Develop and implement emergency response plans for various scenarios, such as power outages, natural disasters, or equipment failures.

  • Train staff members on emergency procedures and coordinate response efforts to minimize disruptions and ensure the safety of guests and employees.

What We need from you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field (such as mechanical, electrical or civil engineering)

  • Excellent project management and budgeting skills

  • Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements

  • 3-5 experience in a similar role
