Reporting to the Chief Retail Officer, the Vice President of Retail plays a crucial role as a key member of the Retail Executive Leadership Team. This role oversees and coordinates all banking operations within a designated region. This includes driving a financially healthy membership base, delivering an exceptional member experience, managing branch activities and business development efforts, implementing strategic plans, and ensuring alignment with corporate objectives. The VP of Retail will engage both internally and externally at all levels, with a strong focus on cultivating relationships and creating synergy to drive team member satisfaction, member satisfaction and regional growth.

Responsible and Accountable for:

  • Empowering Leadership. Serves as member of senior leadership team, collaborating and contributing to the successful creation and execution of the credit union’s strategy and business plan for safety, soundness, brand reputation and growth and employs an inspirational leadership style that encourages collaboration, empathy, and shared purpose.

  • Community Partnership. Cultivates relationships within the community supporting our multi-cultural strategy and establishes the credit union as a trusted partner in local initiatives, financial education programs and outreach efforts.

  • Member-Centric Experience. Delivers a member focused experience that resonates with communities we serve and positions Chartway as a true financial partner; highlighting the credit unions ability to meet members consumer and small banking needs. Collaborates with Chief Retail Officer for regionally appropriate deposit and lending products, companion services and market rates that meet corporate growth and safety desires.

  • Talent Development . Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team of Branch Managers and Relationship Managers by providing coaching and mentorship to foster professional growth and career advancement. Promote a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement, leveraging the credit unions Leadership Competencies.

  • Ethical Compliance & Responsibility. Leads branch network for member experience and business growth – with enterprise operational process synergy. Upholds the highest ethical standards, ensuring all retail operations adhere to regulatory guidelines, compliance standards, and socially responsible banking practices.

  • Promise Foundation. Provides regional support to President of Chartway Promise Foundation for requisite community contribution growth & impact in region.

  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of regulatory frameworks governing retail banking operations, including but not limited to consumer protection laws, financial regulations, and industry standards.

  • Stay abreast of evolving regulatory requirements and compliance standards, ensuring proactive implementation of necessary measures to mitigate risks and maintain operational integrity.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in interpreting and applying regulatory guidelines to daily operations, fostering a culture of compliance and adherence to ethical practices throughout the organization.

  • Ability to understand and be aware of possible suspicious activities or transactions by members or by team members, directors, executives, or officers of the credit union. Promptly notify management as required by credit union policy if unusual activity is observed which could be an indication of financial crime or efforts to evade reporting requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act or other laws and regulations

Education andExperience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Experience: Established credit union and/or banking leader with a proven track record of driving growth and deepening community relationships. Strong knowledge of retail banking products, services, and trends.

  • Leadership: Must be able to lead in alignment with Chartway’s leadership competencies. Experienced in team-building skills with the ability to appreciate and inspire a diverse workforce. Thrives in the confluence of strategic challenge, business and organizational growth, relationship building and fun.
