BluePearl Student Licensed Veterinary Technician - Surgery in Virginia Beach, Virginia
BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a dedicated and passionate Student LVT to join our team of animal care professionals.
As a Student LVT, you will have the opportunity to gain invaluable hands-on experience in a dynamic veterinary environment while furthering your education and skills.
Pay: $17.50 - $33.00 / hour + a competitive shift differential for the entire shift!
This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through CareerTrax leveling system .
* Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience*
As a Student LVT, you will:
Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
Utilize their ability to place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.
Performs physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
Understands normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.
Able to set up intravenous fluids.
Administers subcutaneous fluids.
Can operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
Able to disconnect and connect patients from intravenous fluids aseptically.
Ability to monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
Requirements:
Enrolled in at least the 2nd or 3rd semester of an accredited veterinary technician program.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Availability to work flexible hours, including overnight shifts.
