Job Title: Phlebotomist

Job Description

The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, including trouble shooting, training, and making work flow recommendations. Key responsibilities include executing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, and more. The role requires explaining the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection clearly and courteously. The phlebotomist must fully understand physician orders, match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order, ensuring accuracy and compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations. Additionally, the role involves packaging specimens for transport, storing samples according to required temperatures, and handling inquiries over the phone.
