Navy Federal Credit Union Assistant Manager, UX & Content Design in Vienna, Virginia

Overview

Assist the Manager of UX & Design by leading a team of UX Content Designers while working closely with design leadership and cross-functional partners to develop and lead end-to-end UX content strategy, best practices, and enterprise-wide guidelines. Responsible for UX content across digital member facing touchpoints, defining and leading the content design team’s standards and best practices. Create exceptional experiences by ensuring goals and objectives are met by effectively utilizing technology, people, and design methodologies while working horizontally with partnering teams. Contributing to the delivery of engaging and on-brand user-centered solutions that optimize the usability of our products and align with the established Navy Federal tone and voice.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of comprehensive design systems and documentation to craft clear, concise and effective content that can be scaled across products.

  • Create, maintain, evolve and socialize voice and tone style guides, UX content guidelines, and other self-serve materials.

  • Serve as the career manager for growing team of UX Copy and Content Designers by way of leadership, coaching, and identifying relevant professional growth opportunities, and avenues for the team to pursue.

  • Influence copy and content throughout product design implementation to ensure user engagement and understanding when using products or services.

  • Communicate content related research and benchmarking data to team members and internal business partners to ensure alignment on strategy.

  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies with content workflow process internally and during product development efforts.

  • Serve as subject matter expert for UX content design and define strategy for integrating UX copy into team processes and feedback loops.

  • Identify areas of improvement; determine solutions; implement enhancements/changes to improve UX operations, continuously improving process and streamlining workflow.

  • Ensure team deliverables are met in accordance with customers' expectations, timelines & budget constraints.

  • Work with Assistant Managers of UX and Visual Design to craft Design Ops Documentation for the team to leverage.

  • Utilize user research, and other feedback mechanisms in service of building effective and accessible internal and external products.

  • Incorporate industry best practices while maintaining alignment with Navy Federal goals and capabilities.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of User Experience design principles.

  • Advanced knowledge of user centered design processes and best practices.

  • Significant experience translating business requirements into technical solutions Advanced skill collaborating with various external and internal technical and/or functional contacts.

  • Experience managing cross-functional, multi-dimensional teams and projects of the highest complexity which have business risk and impact.

  • Advanced skill in results-oriented leadership in a challenging environment.

  • Experience supervising and leading employees Advanced skill maintaining accuracy with attention to detail and meeting deadlines.

  • Advanced skill making sound organizational and operational decisions.

  • Advanced skill to influence, negotiate and persuade to reach agreeable exchange and positive outcomes.

  • Effective skill communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, User-Centered Design/Human-Computer Interaction, a related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM
