SUMMARY: The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager assists in the implementation of corporate initiatives to provide for the safety and well-being of ClarkDietrich employees across the organization. This role works closely with plant management teams to ensure that they are providing the safest possible work environment with a goal of zero injuries. The individual must be able to apply safety-related elements of the physical sciences, ergonomics, and physiology as well as safety principles, standards, practices and analytical techniques. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Supports plants in the implementation of EHS related programs and processes necessary to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations as well as ClarkDietrich's internal requirements. * Assists in determining EHS priorities for locations and provides direction on managing programs/policies. * Provides technical assistance for management teams on all environmental, health and safety issues. * Compiles and submits all required company and regulatory reports accurately and on time. * Assists plants in incident investigation process including incident review, data analysis/collection, root cause identification, and corrective action development. * Performs EHS related audits during facility visits and is able to quickly identify and correct substandard conditions when observed. * Helps achieve a culture of employee engagement and ownership in safety processes and continuous improvement. * Works with plants to perform workplace job hazard analyses and risk assessments. * Provides advice on risk identification, reduction, and management. * Participates in planning and design meetings on all new equipment projects. * Develops and executes plans to assure proactive compliance to OSHA mandated programs and incident prevention. * Serves as a resource for plants safety teams to utilize their knowledge of day-to-day operations regarding safety. * Assists Plant Managers in dealings with governmental agencies in all safety and health matters. * Analyzes incident reports, metrics and injury case studies in order to institute changes that lead to a safer environment. * Advises on structural safety requirements based on failure mode analysis of such factors as fatigue, stability, stress, and concentration. * Applies knowledge of physiological factors to assist in the design of safety features and controls. * Utilizes ergonomic principles to reduce/eliminate repetitive motion and improper body positioning. * Reviews proposed occupational safety policies, guidelines, and standards to determine their consistency and recommends changes as needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or equivalent degree preferred. * Experience in complying with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies (ex: OSHA, EPA, etc.). * Able to effectively communicate and influence at all levels of the organization. * Minimum 5 years' experience in leading improvement efforts in a manufacturing setting. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Must be able to work flexible hours, across all shifts. * Experience in facilitating and leading cross-functional teams. * Capable of interpreting and applying rules/regulations on a practical basis. * Able to influence others without direct authority. * Background with manufacturing methods, process improvement programs, and procedures. * Comfortable conducting various trainings in front of large groups of people. SAFETY: * Wears all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while in the manufacturing facility. * Assists with the development and organization of all safety-related documentation. * Ensures that all required safety-related training is conducted and documented appropriately. * Is a proactive presence on the production floor when visiting sites. TRAVEL EXPECTAIONS: * 40-50% travel to all company locations for collaboration, auditing, and training. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: * Reports to Corporate EHS Director. * Primary customers: ClarkDietrich plant management team members and hourly employees. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. * Will be required to stand/walk 4 or more hours per day. * Must be able to climb up and down stairs (and occasionally ladders). WORK ENVIRONMENT: * Office setting, manufacturing floor, and outdoors. * Exposed to extreme temperatures both hot and cold. * Exposed to loud noise.
