Our client, a growing food manufacturing company is looking to hire an experienced Plant Manager to join their organization.

Plant Manager

Overview: The Plant Manager will oversee all operations at our food manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for managing personnel, resources, expenses, processes, productivity, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with food safety and quality standards to achieve superior customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee operations, maintaining accountability for production costs, labor utilization, product yield, and facility upkeep.

  • Recruit, train, develop, and inspire team members to ensure high employee engagement and operational growth.

  • Create and manage budgets to align resources with the company's key initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance with food safety requirements and Good Manufacturing Practices, including meeting audit targets.

  • Set production and processing goals for the plant.

  • Implement continuous improvements to reduce operating costs.

  • Develop, recommend, and execute capital improvement projects, including preparing and managing a capital budget.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Food Science, Business, Supply Chain, or related field.

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 2 years in food/beverage or CPG manufacturing or similar FDA-regulated environments.

  • At least 2 years of experience in executing or leading production operations or operational planning.

  • Results-oriented and thrives in a fast-paced, demanding food industry environment.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on teamwork and quality orientation.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading, motivating, and developing a diverse team of salaried and hourly employees.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and build strong relationships in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.

  • Experience with continuous improvement tools and principles.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Business Central or other ERP software, and intermediate knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

  • Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting equipment issues and managing the maintenance team is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lead and work in various operating environments, from office settings to the manufacturing floor.

  • Must be able to identify, analyze, and assess details.

  • Occasionally move or transport items up to 50 pounds.

  • Communicate effectively with others.

  • Constantly move and position oneself to support production or office operations.

  • Maintain a constant state of alertness and operate in a safe manner.
