Empire State University seeks a full-time Bilingual Assistant Registrar (State Title: Assistant College Registrar) to coordinate and participate in the deployment of customer service activities related to the Registrar's Office. These activities include service in person, on the telephone, via e-mail, chat, and ticketing system to ensure efficient and effective customer service. The Bilingual Assistant Registrar will serve as a generalist, able to assist specifically bilingual or Spanish-speaking students with Office of the Registrar related activities.

The Office of the Registrar at Empire State University provides a wide range of services for students, alumni, faculty, and staff, which include recording and reporting academic information, academic standing, graduation clearance, transcript services, transfer evaluation, enrollment verifications and certifications, collaboration on the academic calendar, enrollment reporting and forecasting, and publications including the term guide and the college catalog. The office maintains all official student, alumni, and curricular records for the university, and it ensures the accuracy and integrity of the curricular and student records.

Specific job duties include:

  • Provide bilingual support for students in processing registration requests, in both procedural and troubleshooting aspects of course enrollment.

  • Providing guidance and support to students and staff on a range of academic and administrative issues related to degree and transfer programs.

  • Work with Office of the Registrar staff to stay up to date on matters of degree audit, scheduling, grading, transcripts, academic records, vendor products and services, enrollment verification, degree verification, University policy and procedures, etc.

  • Work closely with other areas of the University to ensure seamless and inclusive service to all that visit or seek the services of the Registrar's Office.

    Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.

  • Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English.

  • Prior experience working in a college/university registrar's office or in an office with parallel functions.

  • Proficiency in technologies related to a college/university registrar's office.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and inclusively with diverse populations of students, staff, faculty, alumni, and external community members.

  • Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational, administrative, communication, leadership, decision-making skills, as well as the ability to work individually and in a team setting.

  • Ability to create an inclusive environment both in an office and across units.

  • Demonstrated innovative use of software and technology to achieve efficiencies and goals.

  • Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.

  • Experience with student information systems.

  • Prior knowledge of and experience working with bilingual and emergent bilingual learners, particularly in online settings.

  • Prior experience working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse linguistic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Special Information:

  • May involve occasional travel.

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
